[edit]reads like an article, bio & works conflated etc —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.53.48.175 (talk) 07:25, 10 April 2007 (UTC).
- i've broken it into a few very broad topics on his biography. I cannot address it much further then this. I'm also going to add a few links that I feel are worthy. --Soonlaypale 07:14, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
also doesn't cite references
[edit]i don't know how to put those blocks on the top though —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.53.48.175 (talk) 07:27, 10 April 2007 (UTC).
Clarification
[edit]"which he felt robbed him of valuable writing time which he limited as much as possible" Presumably an "and" should precede the second "which," so that its reference is to "teaching," not to "writing time."Orthotox (talk) 21:08, 26 December 2014 (UTC)
Gissing's Diary
[edit]Gissing's actual diary was published, also, after he died, which lends some insight into his mentality, what was happening in his life on a nearly daily basis, and of course his point of view on it. Also includes weather reports for his location in just about every entry. It's extremely informative on Gissing's pessimism. The last decade or so of his life, he was pretty sure he was actively dying, his health concerned him so much. It's been a few decades since I read it, but it made a lasting impression on me. Mostly a dreary impression! If you have any interest in Gissing, it's a must-read. Kelelain (talk) 15:35, 4 March 2022 (UTC)
I note that the French entry in Wikipedia on GG is vastly longer and more discursive. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Roseberyxxx (talk • contribs) 10:01, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
