The statistics of lignite production in Part II show that the principal producing countries are Germany, Austria, and Hungary, which in 1906 produced 55,513,000 tons, 23,779,000 tons, and 6,263,000 tons respectively, whilst the provisions figures available for the production of Germany in 1907 show a production of 61,542,000 tons. In Austria the output of Lignite for 1907 was 25,840,000 tons. The quantity of lignite produced in the United States is included in the figures of coal produced, which have already been given. The latest available figures giving the production of lignite separately relate to 1905, when it amounted to 6,149,000 tons. In no other country does the quantity produced reach one million tons. In the United Kingdom it has for some years been nil.
