How to improve Wikipedia's reliability Since anyone can edit almost any Wikipedia article, it is possible for biased, out of date, or incorrect information to be added to Wikipedia. To improve Wikipedia's reliability, fix these problems by doing the following: As often as you can, monitor and check changes made to articles. Your Watchlist, and the Related changes and Recent changes features are useful for this. Clean up vandalism and report vandals to Administrator intervention against vandalism (WP:AIV). Many vandalism clean-up tools are available to assist you. Fix mistakes: Fix typos, and grammatical and spelling errors. Join the Typo Team and learn their methods. Fix factual errors. You could also join the Fact and Reference Check Project. Fix bias. See Wikipedia:Systemic bias. For dubious statements that are not sourced or are likely to be challenged, hunt for references that are reliable, relevant, accurate, objective, and timely. Add citations for these to the article. Read the references provided by articles and check them for reliability, relevance, accuracy, objectivity, and timeliness. That is, read the source material cited, and remove irrelevant or unreliable citations. Hypericum sechmenii flowers

Hypericum sechmenii (Seçmen's St John's wort) is a rare species of flowering plant in the St John's wort family that is found in Eskişehir Province in central Turkey. It was first described and assigned to the genus Hypericum in 2009, and was later placed into the section Adenosepalum. H. sechmenii is a perennial herb that grows 3 to 6 centimeters (1 to 2 inches) tall and blooms in June and July. The stems of the plant are smooth and hairless, while the leaves are leathery and lack leafstalks. Its flowers are arranged in corymbs, and each has five bright yellow petals. Similar species are H. huber-morathii, H. minutum, and H. thymopsis. Found among limestone rocks, H. sechmenii has an estimated distribution of less than 10 square kilometers (4 square miles), with fewer than 250 surviving plants. Despite containing druse crystals and toxic chemicals that may deter herbivory, the species is threatened by overgrazing, as well as climate change and habitat loss. (Full article...)

"Wikipedia better than Britannica", claims experienced dictionary-writer. Good ol' Beeb. Several sections of the BBC have a policy of using Wikipedia unashamedly (good on them). BBC article March 2009: "UK politicians' Wikipedia worries" is largely pro-Wikipedia, despite its title. BBC article 2007: "Students 'should use Wikipedia'" it says, partially quoting Jimmy Wales. Some BBC articles rely heavily on directing readers to WP, e.g. this article on WW2 code-breaking. The Electoral Reform Society (ERS) (here) directs viewers to Wikipedia's Counting Single Transferable Votes article. The Daily Telegraph's on-line website section provides an RSS feed from Wikipedia (here), above its own Technology RSSs, but ironically still propagates old anti-Wikipedia stories (here) ! BBC article 2005: [1] The results of an analysis of a broad range of entries from the websites of Wikipedia and Encyclopædia Britannica] states that "... reviewers also found many factual errors, omissions or misleading statements: 162 and 123 in Wikipedia and Britannica, respectively.". But we've improved since then, I'm quite sure.
