A twisting, pulse-pounding thriller from Freida McFadden, the New York Times bestselling author of The Housemaid and The Coworker

"You must be our new neighbors!" Mrs. Lowell gushes and waves across the picket fence. I clutch my daughter's hand and smile back: but the second Mrs. Lowell sees my husband a strange expression crosses her face. In that moment I make a promise. We finally have a family home. My past is far, far behind us. And I'll do anything to keep it that way…

I used to clean other people's houses―now, I can't believe this home is actually mine. The charming kitchen, the quiet cul-de-sac, the huge yard where my kids can play. My husband and I saved for years to give our children the life they deserve.

Even though I'm wary of our new neighbor Mrs. Lowell, when she invites us over for dinner it's our chance to make friends. Her maid opens the door wearing a white apron, her hair in a tight bun. I know exactly what it's like to be in her shoes. But her cold stare gives me chills…

The Lowells' maid isn't the only strange thing on our street. I'm sure I see a shadowy figure watching us. My husband leaves the house late at night. And when I meet a woman who lives across the way, her words chill me to the bone: Be careful of your neighbors.

Did I make a terrible mistake moving my family here?

I thought I'd left my darkest secrets behind. But could this quiet suburban street be the most dangerous place of all?

From New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Freida McFadden comes the next installment of the unbelievably twisty, tension-packed and globally bestselling Housemaid series. This book can be enjoyed as a standalone read: and once you start, it will have you up all night racing through the pages until the final explosive twist.

First 100 pages were slow but after that I couldn't put it down

First 100 pages were slow but after that I couldn't put it down
Ok so here is my honest truth. Had this been my first Freida and I stuck to my 100 page rule I would have DNF'd this one.The first 100 pages I struggled to get into, it was slow and repetitive. That being said I'm glad I didn't and stuck with it because I really enjoyed it.This could be a standalone but I don't recommend skipping the first two as they were great.Enzo lying felt unnecessary to me and added conflict where there didn't need to be in my opinion. I liked the twist and it made sense but I was really hoping it would have been something else that I can't say without a huge spoiler warning so I won't. Same vibes as the first 2, if you liked them you'll like this one.

Well another Freida McFadden book shelved as read! Book 3 of the trilogy did not disappoint. It was fast paced and it had some crazy moments, especially in the second half of the book. It was very entertaining and that's what I look for in a book. It wasn't as thrilleresk (I know that's not a word but I couldn't think of one to use) as some of McFadden's books are but enjoyable none the less. I gave this book a 4 star rating.

The 2 books of the Housemaid were original, humorous and full of surprises. The last one is slow moving, repetitive which makes it heavy. The reader is rewarded for its patience at the very end but it barely makes up for the 2/3 of the story which drags itself. I would not have bothered buying the last book if I had known.

This was my least favourite of the 3, took a long time to pick up and I was able to figure out part of the twist.

"The Housemaid is Watching" is the third, and in my opinion, the best book in Freida McFadden's three book "Housemaid" series. It is now over a decade later than the previous book, and Millie and Enzo are now married with two children, Ada, 11, and Nico, 9.

When the book begins the family have moved from a small Bronx apartment to a single detached home on Long Island. Millie has completed college and is a social worker, and Enzo is expanding his landscaping business, but money is tight. They meet the Lowells, their next door neighbours, and Mrs. Lowell, a real estate agent, promises to recommend Enzo to her clients.

All, however, is not good in the neighbourhood, and the reader becomes engrossed a suspense situation leading to the death of Mr. Lowell. Enzo is initially arrested, but he is covering for someone else. So who committed the murder and why?

I found the plot engrossing, and the book is a very good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved book 3!!!

I have read all these housemaid books about Millie. I have read online reviews on this book where people said it was awful. I totally disagree. It may not be as wonderful as the first book in the series, which is probably usually the case, but I think it is another good book about Millie. It kept me wandering and wanting to read more. I read this book in three days. A friend of mine read it and loved it as well. I think this book left a lot hanging about many of the characters. I think Freida could write many books on some of these character’s backgrounds. I connect so well with her writing and never get bored. I think it was totally worth the read and I’m praying she writes a book 4 very soon because I will be buying that and reading it as well!! You go, Freida!!!

It’s a good story as you’d expect from this author but it’s not her best work.
I found the whole storyline uninteresting and predictable. I guessed the twist practically straightaway which isn’t what one likes
