The Best AR VR Headset for everyone

The Best AR VR Headset for everyone
I bought this headset during Christmas last year to replace my Quest 2 after seeing some reviews and boy I was pleasantly surprised with all of the upgrades. First off, the box is a lot smaller than the Quest 2 box, which in my opinion is much better for the environment. It even comes with Asgard's Wrath 2, which is a AAA game comparable to those on consoles and PC. I played the first one and was eager for this one.Now for the upgrades. I noticed immediately, that the headset was a lot thinner (maybe half the size) than the Quest 2 and the controllers didn't have that annoying ring on top. I often hit walls, and the controllers together as I played with the Quest 2 controllers. I also loved the fact that there was an actual button to pop off the battery cover for the controllers. The headset also has more cameras and they are 4MP color cameras. I was happy to see a fully adjustable IPD wheel (interpupillary distance - the distance between your irises in your eyes). Once you put the headset on, I immediately noticed that the quality of the graphics was really sharp, way better than the Quest 2. It's definitely noticeable for objects far away. 2064x2208 resolution vs Quest 2's 1832x1920 resolution per eye. The most impressive for me was the Mixed Reality games. I did not realize how awesome it is to see your space in color and have virtual objects and games play in that space. It definitely tricks your mind as if these virtual objects are real especially when you can see yourself walk around them. Many games over the months have added upgraded textures and the graphic fidelity is getting close to PCVR.Ultimately, after these 6 months, I have been very happy with the Meta Quest 3. It is definitely worth the upgrade and you will definitely be happy with all of the upgrades. If you see this on sale, this is a must buy.

My previous VR device was the original Oculus Rift. You had to use a few USB ports on your PC and setup a zone in one area that the two infrared sensors could see. The motion tracking wasn't always great, and the headset fogged up quickly. I recently upgraded to the Quest 3 after all these years and wow, VR has come a long way.

The passthrough allows me to go anywhere in my house and setup a massive boundary at any time. It's not very clear, but it's very useable. The videos you see posted of recordings from the headset are much more clear than the physical use of it. Performance wise, it's incredible. I generally play games directly from the headset and they work flawlessly. The battery life isn't great, it lasts a couple hours or so depending on what you're doing, but to be honest I can only use it for max that long as my forehead starts to hurt. Both of these issues can be fixed with a 3rd party battery strap, however I have yet to set mine up. The lenses never fog up, regardless of how strenuous the game I'm playing might be. The audio is very cool, it comes from tiny speakers in the strap of the headset that are funneled towards your ears. The quality is actually quite good and it doesn't disturb anyone around you much at all.

As for gaming via Steamlink. I've only tried it via wireless as of now, and have a very good router, but it does seem to work well. I have had a couple instances while playing HL Alyx that the quality drops and the movement glitches but generally it's been very playable.

Overall, it's a very worthy upgrade if you are a few generations back, no doubt. Looking back on it, the Quest 2 might have been more than enough for me, but truly the upgraded lenses and the passthrough feature has been excellent and frankly I use it more than I thought I would. Excellent device.

The quest 3 is a generational upgrade from the quest 2. It seems that improved processing power makes the experience a lot smoother, and seamless. The colour cameras, and depth sensors allow for real, playable, and not janky mixed reality experiences. As reviewers have said, the quality of the cameras allows for you to use your phone in VR, and the passthrough experience is improved a lot.

I was surprisingly disappointed by the improvement in quality in VR applications, the screen resolution though definitely improved, is still not “crisp” or sharp. Fine details are still obscured by slight grain or blur. Although the pancake lenses mean that the sweet spot is now dramatically better, clarity in fast paced games such as “thrill of the fight”, and “beat saber” is dramatically improved! I look forward to getting some cardio with this thing.

The new facial interface is dramatically improved for wearers of glasses, the adjustable depth - combined with the recessed lens design, mean that your glasses are significantly less likely to scratch the lenses (hugely important; this especially can add up over time). And there is much more room to make it comfortable.

The default strap truly still sucks for comfort, I had to resort to hacking together a cushion in order to make it comfortable while I wait for proper solutions to be released.

As a VR/AR software dev, I can’t wait to get started with developing mixed reality applications with this!

I purchased this for my Simracing rig and initially I only intended to use it for that however, I started playing some other VR games on and boy oh boy this headset is so amazing! Firstly the passthrough is totally useable and really awesome recently after the V64 update it's gotten much better too!

The setup process for the headset was really easy and intuitive my main gripe with it is that the PCVR experience is pretty poor I understand where Meta is coming from but the headset is very capable of handling both a standalone and PCVR setting. However, Oculus' PCVR software is so out of date and it really kicks you of immersion because you cant use passthrough while doing it too. Using Virtual Desktop really helps with the process but not everyone has the hardware to run that smoothly and wirelessly.

The quality of the lenses is fantastic and games look freaking amazing on it! I do wish they weren't LCD but some compromises need to made I guess to sell it at the great price it's sold at. My other complaint is the default strap really sucks and if you have a big head or a lot of hair it frequently starts to slip when I look down so I will def be picking up a 3rd party strap or the elite strap in the future.

Overall, the positive experience outweighs all the negatives I have listed and I highly recommend everyone who's interested in getting in to VR to pick it up!

Cara, o meta quest 3 é uma revolução!
Tanto pra jogar, quanto pra trabalhar e fazer as tarefas do dia a dia.
Recomendo fortemente já comprar as baterias extras pq a bateria acaba bem rápido, principalmente no modo de realidade mista, mas dá pra se divertir bastante

100% worth the cost, the build quality is much better than Kiwi/BoBoVR. Kiwi is cheaper, so it’s worth the trade off if you need to save a buck. BoboVR just isn’t worth the huge price and low build quality, it was confirmed they paid streamers and content creators to promote it, so be very careful when seeing all the glowing reviews of BoboVR.

It’s a bit overpriced, it it makes a big difference that you are able to clean it after use. It feels more comfortable than the original and it doesn’t absorb the sweat. Great upgrade!

Si su uso del Quest va a ser más haciendo fitness, hay que comprarlo desde el día 1, ya que el otro no es tan bueno con el sudor.
