Morocco receives first F-16s

Morocco is the latest U.S. partner nation to receive the F-16 Fighting Falcon, a historic event marked by a ceremony at Ben Guerrir Air Base, Morocco on August 4th.
For the third time in less than a year, the Pentagon has grounded all F-35 joint strike fighters because of a mechanical problem. The F-35s thus join the F-22 Raptors in stand down mode.
Air Force F-22 pilots are losing their training edge as the Raptor fleet enters its fourth month of a grounding, the Air Force Times reported.
Two F-16 fighter jets were scrambled to intercept a 75-year-old pilot today after she entered airspace restricted for President Barack Obama's fundraising trip to Chicago.

Morocco unveils its block 52 F-16s

The Royal Moroccan Air Force (RMAF) unveiled the first four of 24 Lockheed Martin F-16 aircraft in a ceremony today at Ben Guerrir Air Base in Morocco.
The first four of 24 new Block 52 F-16s produced for the Royal Moroccan Air Force have left the Lockheed Martin facility in Fort Worth, Texas, en route to Morocco.
Norwegian F-16s that were assigned to operations over Libya returned home to Bodø on Monday, effectively ending Norway's participation in the NATO mission.
With the arrival of the joint strike fighter, the military continues setting the historic milestones for the worldwide aviation industry in preparing the first F-35 Lightning II pilots.
SAFE SKIES 2011 came to a close on July 29 after twelve days of what officials said were successful flying training missions.
An F-16C block 30 from 100 FS (#87-0296) sustained a hard landing after coming off the runway at Wittman Regional Airport during the AirVenture event at Oshkosh this morning.

F-35 Lightning II flight test report

Lockheed Martin's F-35 flight test program moves closer to achieving year-end milestones since the last update issued June 13. The F-35 Lightning II 5th Generation multirole fighter conducted 107 test flights, bringing the total number of flights for the year to 518.
A vehicle convoy on its way to Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, comes under attack; immediately the convoy commander calls for an air strike. Once the F-16 fighter jet crew chiefs get the word, they know exactly what to do and rush to the airfield to prepare F-16s for launch to assist the troops on the ground.

USAF to base 36 F-35A's at Nellis

The U.S. Air Force has issued a Record of Decision for the proposed basing of F-35A Lightning II aircraft at Nellis Air Force Base.
The second flight of four from a total batch of nine F-16 fighters were delivered to Jordan today (with the first flight leaving last Wednesday) from Kleine Brogel airbase.
Several Air National Guard F-16 Fighting Falcons landed in Ukraine over the weekend for a U.S. European Command sponsored, aerial military-to-military exchange event called SAFE SKIES 2011.
