Normally, I avoid off-brand products like the plague. I have rarely had even acceptable experiences with them - generally, the experiences were terrible. Amazon's return policy, however, offers me a bit of flexibility when it comes to product selection. With this in mind, when I happened to see this item, sporting a 20% discount (bringing the price down to $39.99), I figured, "Why not?" I am SO glad I did!
This trackball is excellent! Construction, battery life (so far), setup - all were exemplary. If you are in the market for a new/replacement trackball, I highly recommend you give this one a shot. You will be pleasantly surprised.
Pros:
Quality construction - the plastic feels solid and the trackball as a whole has a nice "heft" to it.
No extraneous software needed - the trackball works as a plug and play mouse. The RGB ring around the ball is controlled via a 5-setting push-button (4 color patterns + Off).
Rechargeable built-in battery (USB-C) - No scouring the junk drawer for AA or AAA batteries.
Battery Life - I've been using mine heavily for four days and still have 43% charge remaining.
Connectivity - This trackball can be connected to a max of three devices at a time; one via the (included) 2.4 GHz receiver and two via Bluetooth. Switch between devices with the touch of a button.
Comfort - trackball can be used in a flat position or at a 20-ish degree tilt to the right.
CONS:
No direct control of the RGB ring: there are 4 color patterns and off - that's it. While this doesn't bother me, it may be an issue for some users.
The scroll wheel has a very tight, crisp movement between clicks. I find this perfect, my wife does not.
Some simple comparisons to the MX Ergo:
1. This mouse does not have scroll wheel tilting.
2. This mouse has RGB around the scroll ball.
3. This mouse has compatibility to be used with up to 3 different devices compared to 2.
4. The mouse body is entirely hard plastic as opposed to the rubber and metal found in the Ergo.
5. This mouse's adjustable base is non-removable (as far as I'm aware).
6. This mouse's side buttons are further back.
7. This mouse's scroll wheel is squared rather than rounded.
8. This mouse has significantly less battery life.
9. This mouse's wake-up feature requires a click instead of trackball movement.
10. This mouse's clicks are significantly muted, and are hardly audible.
11. This mouse's power switch is smaller and harder to use.
12. This mouse's trackball does not roll as smoothly or as easily.
13. The scroll wheel requires a little more force to turn than the Ergo.
14. The clicks require a lot less pressure to actuate and have a lot less travel distance, increasing the chances of accidental clicks with a heavy or tired hand.
15. The base is entirely plastic rather than the Ergo's solid metal, which makes this mouse significantly lighter, although it retains its grabby rubber pad to keep it from moving.
Side-Note: The RGB has swappable modes as detailed on the store page, but is otherwise non-programmable. You can, however, turn it off separately by holding down the mode button.
Now for what I personally like about it:
1. The hard plastic body is actually a plus, in my opinion. Although the ridges are a bit much, the plastic alleviates hand sweat somewhat and doesn't get grimey as easily.
2. The side buttons being further back makes them less likely to be pressed accidentally, although this is usually only an issue on the Ergo if you are really throwing around the trackball in a game for example.
3. The scroll wheel has chunkier feedback when scrolling, which I prefer though it also makes it harder to turn.
4. The left and right click pads are separated by a non-clickable section. This really isn't a huge benefit, but I do prefer it to the Ergo's edge to edge click pads.
5. The click sounds are supremely quiet. I know some people like the clickety-click sounds of mouse buttons but I find them rather grating after prolonged use, especially in quiet environments.
6. The RGB is cool. Yeah gamer nation and all that, I like some lights on my peripherals, although the lack of a programmable feature is a bit of a hamper on my enjoyment as every mode is basically a different variation of rainbow, which doesn't really match my aesthetic.
7. The click pads are a nice, soft plastic, which I find nicer to the touch than the Ergo's hard plastic pads.
As a final note, I'd like to point out what I find to be the most egregious deficit with this mouse: its battery life. With my Ergo, I charge it once a month, give or take. With this mouse I basically left it plugged in due to how often I had to plug it back in to charge anyways. This really isn't an issue per se, as this is a trackball mouse and will mostly stay stationary during use, but it is a definite downside.
This mouse is roughly half the price of the MX Ergo, so I can't really argue on the basis of price: if you don't think you can save up for the MX Ergo, this is a good option.
I prefer trackballs to mice and most are pretty similar ergonomically, but they managed to improve on that with the tilt feature. Most trackballs appear to be the same, but this one is hands down above the rest. I may or may not use the feature, but I can definitely see the benefit of it being able to switch between three different computers, using the wireless for one and Bluetooth for the other two. The button for switching between computers seems like it is in an odd place and vulnerable to unintentional clicking, but that's not the case. It's conveniently located without being in the way. Being able to adjust DPI at the touch of a button is pretty handy too, allowing for increased precision when required. This button is also conveniently located without the potential of accidentally changing the setting. The RGB lighting is a cool feature with a number of pattern options, but really has no functional purpose that I'm aware of. I'm happy with cool though. The lights will shut off automatically after about 30 seconds of non use in order to save power. Of course, it comes with a charging cable. What more is there to say? Oh, yeah, I even like that textured surface under your palm. This one's a winner!

Fantastic Addition
The mouse is a great addition to my desktop setup. It works really well with my devices. I am switching seamlessly between a work computer (a Dell) and my own (a M2 Macbook Air)
Easy to Connect and Use
Connecting and using the mouse was very easy. I didn't have any trouble setting it up.
Seamless Switching Between Devices
I can easily switch the mouse between my different devices with the press of a button. It works smoothly no matter which computer I'm using.
Accessible Functionality
I can access all the mouse's features without having to move it around. The buttons are placed in a way that makes them easy to reach.
Comfortable Design
The mouse has an ergonomic design that feels good in my hand. It reduces strain on my wrists, which is very important for me as I do have issues with my wrist.
Overall, this mouse is a great accessory for my desktop setup. It's easy to use, versatile, and comfortable - exactly what I was looking for.
Seller's support when the shipping got delayed is incredible - they were prompt in reply and addressed the issue well.
First impressions are generally positive, and the feel is very familiar to me as the size and shape is nearly identical to the Logitech MX Ergo I was using previously. The tilt angle feels nearly identical, and even the ball is exactly the same size and they can actually be swapped between the EM01 and MX Ergo.
Bluetooth pairing was simple and quick, and it arrived with 91% charge out of the box so I could start using it right away. The tracking feels nice and accurate, and cycling through the sensitivity settings is simple and convenient with the dedicated thumb button.
The overall fit and finish isn't quite as good as the MX Ergo, but at less than half the price that seems like a reasonable tradeoff. The EM01 feels noticeably lighter than the MX Ergo, and definitely has more of a hollow feeling to it, but not offensively bad. At least with the EM01 the outside surface is all plastic so there wont be any unsightly rubber coating peeling like I had with both of my previous MX Ergo mice.
The buttons are noticeably quieter than the MX Ergo, but I suspect largely because they feel a little mushy in direct comparison and lack most of the tactile "clicky" feeling. Again, not terrible, but just feels slightly worse directly comparing the two.
The biggest issue I initially had was the edges of the plasic pieces had very sharp feeling edges that made it quite uncomfortable in my hand during use. I was able to correct this by burnishing the edges with another piece of plastic, just to take a bit of the sharpness off. I ended up using a plastic keycap puller I had laying around to do this, but any plastic of similar hardness to the mouse would work, just running it along the edges a few times.
Lastly... RGB... on a trackball? Completely unnecessary, but luckily its easy to turn off to save the battery, so thats how mine will stay.
Overall, I do think the EM01 is a suitable alternative to the MX Ergo, especially if you're sick of dealing with the gross, peeling rubber coating on the Logitech after a year or two of use.
