Senior Accountant at FinFit

The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing and reviewing monthly account reconciliations, journal entries in financial systems and reports, and performing monthly fluctuation analysis which will include researching, identifying, and variance justifications. This position requires excellent communication, an ability to think critically and creatively, attention to detail, and a team-oriented attitude. If you are intellectually curious and have a passion for problem-solving, you may be the perfect fit for our team. This role will report directly to the Controller.

Qualifications We Value

  • College Degree with a concentration in Accounting
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in accounting
  • Thorough knowledge of US GAAP
  • Industry experience in Consumer Financial Services, Fintech and/or Employee Benefits is highly desirable
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel including the use of formulas and look-up tables.  
  • Knowledge of enterprise resource planning systems, especially SAGE100
  • Prior experience with corporate or business unit financial leadership
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the handling of large data elements is preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills – including the ability to present results.
  • A demonstrated sense of urgency to produce results and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while focusing on the completion of the highest priority items in the shortest timeframe possible.

In this role, you’ll get to…

  • Maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Implement or enhance processes to further streamline and enable more accurate and complete reporting.
  • Maintain daily and monthly detailed reconciliation of various balance sheet accounts
  • Variance analysis of any revenue or expense actual vs. forecast differences as well as balance sheet account fluctuation analyses.
  • Complete assigned accounts for month-end closing effectively and efficiently
  • Complete month, quarter, and year-end processes including, but not limited to, bank account reconciliations, journal entries, prepaid amortization, fixed asset, and depreciation calculations.
  • Complete accounting work papers for use in the annual audit.
  • Train, mentor, and delegate tasks to junior staff.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Troubleshoot and offer suggestions for improving general ledger imports, primary source reporting, and operational functionality of software applications.
  • Contribute to ad hoc projects
  • Work closely with the Controller and CFO to develop and implement internal department policies and procedures
