Automotive Service Director (Domestic Dealership)

We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Automotive Service Director for a growing domestic dealership in Alabama. The successful candidate is a proven Service Director that leads by example, fosters a sense of urgency, and will capitalize on the untapped potential within the service department. The Service Director hired will be responsible for overseeing, motivating, and mentoring the entire service staff to ensure exceptional customer satisfaction and sustained departmental growth. **There is a ton of room for growth within the fixed department as the dealer recently purchased the land behind the dealership to build a medium/heavy duty truck service center.** Strong Parts Department in place. The Service Director hired will have support from upper management to get their job done. This person will report directly to, and work closely with, the General Manager of the dealership. Must have a proven track record in building up underperforming service departments. This is a great long-term opportunity with a growing and reputable family-owned dealer group.

Responsibilities

• Oversee, motivate, and mentor the entire service department staff.
• Create a sense of urgency within the department while ensuring exceptional customer service and maintaining CSI scores at or above regional levels.
• Manage daily operations, ensuring timely and high-quality service that meets customer needs.
• Collaborate closely with the General Manager, reporting directly to them and aligning service department goals with dealership objectives.
• Lead growth initiatives, including the planned expansion into medium/heavy duty truck services.
• Hold daily and weekly meetings for the department, as well as 1:1s with individual team members.
• Maintain clear and effective communication with staff, customers, and upper management.
• Actively strive to grow the department and develop the team through hands-on leadership.
• Develop and implement effective processes and procedures to enhance department performance.
• Set a clear vision for the Service Department to achieve targeted performance goals.
• Manage and supervise the service technicians, ensuring that all work is performed to the highest standards and within established timelines.
• Provide training to service technicians to help them improve their skills and knowledge.
• Recruit, interview and train service staff; handle performance reviews

Compensation

• Compensation will be in the six-figures with tremendous room for growth as the medium duty truck center is built and this person takes over both departments!
