Under direct supervision, prepares specimens for analysis.

Labels, separates and otherwise prepares specimens.Performs clerical and computer-related documentation accurately.Maintains inventory of supplies.Answers telephone calls in a timely manner; routes calls, ascertains needs, and takes accurate messages as is appropriate.Enters test requests, provides test results and processes specimens.Prioritizes and coordinates work to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency.Uses the appropriate hand off communication techniques (SBAR) when appropriate.Assists with training of new department staff members in accordance with the departmental training process.Demonstrates an active problem solving attitude & positive approach to all aspects of job

Maintains safe work area by observing all safety procedures and reporting any unsafe conditions or practices to the appropriate personnel.Maintains a working knowledge of all contracted reference laboratories and their on-line catalogs/portals.Maintains pending lists to assure all samples are in the In-Lab status and accounted for.Processes, stores and ships samples according to the referring laboratory's guidelines.

$23.00 - $30.35 / Hour
