Specialist II, Library Reference (Part Time)

Job Summary

Staffing the library reference desk primarily during evenings.

Essential Responsibilities And Duties

Reference desk duty including: answering questions (in-person, on the phone, and virtually), doing basic research (helping patrons navigate the online catalog, the article databases and other Internet searches); participating in collection development; helping users with login access issues; occasional Information Literacy instruction or conducting classroom presentations, and content development or oversight on the Web portal. . And other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of academic library databases, library searching, and information literacy preferred. Ability to work with students, library patrons, staff, and faculty in a service desk capacity with strong customers services skills. Strong computer and communications skills.

Ability to lift 10+ lbs.

Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.

Non-Essential Responsibilities And Duties

Knowledge of LibGuides, SirsiDynix WorkFlows/Symphony, EBSCO , Dewey Decimal System. Additional responsibilities based upon qualifications and ambition.
