About the job

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of FP&A supporting Technology, Operations, and Capex for a large global client. This is a newly created role designed to provide strategic partnership to both the Chief Digital and Information Officer and Chief Operating Officer organizations. Additionally, this role will design, implement, and manage the end-to-end Capex process for the enterprise. The new Capex process will help drive greater insight, and financial analysis and impact for multi-year investments. The Company’s FP&A team is in growth mode, thus the ideal candidate will enjoy building and establishing new processes and routines, have demonstrated experience collaborating in a matrix environment, possess strong partnering and influencing skills and operate with a continuous improvement mindset. From a technical perspective a successful candidate will have extensive experience building business cases and performing IRR modeling, supporting technology or property-heavy organization, preparing executive level presentations, and establishing new processes and governance routines. This role will manage a team and report to the VP of Global FP&A.


Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary finance business partner to Technology and Operations leadership providing analytical support for multi-year strategic initiatives to drive and support growth, while operating with a governance lens to minimize surprises and mitigate risks related to large scale investments and vendor spend
  • Advise and lead financial cycle for operating expenditures directed by Technology and Operations leadership including timely and accurate month-end close analysis and reporting, re-forecasting, budget development and strategic program analysis
  • Provide financial modeling and analysis to support on-going property’s footprint strategy
  • Manage forecast and budget for enterprise ensuring rent escalators are considered/understood, rent terms are properly considered and new properties are projected accurately
  • Spearhead maturing Capex process including developing and maintaining business case template, intaking submissions, consolidating project list for prioritization and approval for budget, establishing governance model to monitoring spend and cash timing and measure outcomes and financial returns
  • Support cash flow forecasting providing insight and timing on Capex and large non-labor expenditures such as software maintenance and property spend
  • Partner with sourcing group regarding multi-year vendor spend associated with technology and operations to understand contract renewal timing, impact of cost avoidance and potential savings
  • Compile detailed actuals by capital project/initiative to help project owners in technology and operations review status of their projects and track progress against budget
  • Partner with other finance business partners to support other functions/business areas where technology spend is managed in a matrix environment
  • Support accounting in monthly close/accrual process, capitalized labor calculation and variance analysis to ensure accurate financial results
  • Provide hands-on leadership and development to FP&A team creating a positive environment for team member growth and fostering collaboration across both finance and the wider enterprise
  • Contribute new ideas to drive continuous improvement to business processes, systems, and tools


Skills Needed

  • 10+ years of progressive experience, including managerial or directorial roles
  • Proven track record of success in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities
  • Comfortable leading and coaching teams, with a hands-on approach to problem-solving
  • Previously supported technology and/or multi-unit budgeting
  • Robust analytical, critical thinking and financial modeling skills, explicitly business case development and investment analytics
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis
  • Prior experience in building scalable processes and driving continuous improvement and automation within a growing Finance organization
  • Detail-oriented, flexible, and organized with the ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of management including C level
  • Self-motivated and able to take ownership and responsibility for end-to-end process and knows how to work independently, but when to consult with other
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • MBA or graduate degree preferred but not required
