Job Description

The R&D Food Technologist is responsible for applying food science knowledge and principles to new and existing products in the dietary supplement industry.

Reports to:

R&D Manager

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean, organized R&D lab. Practices cGMPs and proper food handling procedures.
  • Formulate and flavor dietary supplement samples to send to customers and revise formulas based on customer feedback. Samples include protein powders, amino acids, preworkouts, hydration, and thermogenic formulas.
  • Document all customer sample formulas.
  • Collect and analyze ingredient information to ensure compliance to customer product requirements.
  • Organoleptic evaluation of raw materials for quality and production feasibility.
  • Organoleptic evaluation of production batches.
  • Work with Production and Operations to troubleshoot product formulas.
  • Test incoming flavors for use in production.
  • Assist with R&D projects as assigned by R&D Manager.

Qualifications and Abilities:

Minimum BS Food Science or related field

Excellent communication skills

Takes initiative, critical thinker, not afraid to ask questions

MS Office

Physical Demands:

Able to lift up to 25 lbs.

Able to use step stool

Must be able to consume caffeine and other stimulants in small amounts
