JOB SUMMARY:

The Automotive Dealership Parts Director is responsible for overseeing the Parts Department's operations, ensuring efficient inventory management, excellent customer service, and profitability. This role involves managing staff, optimizing parts inventory, maintaining supplier relationships, and working closely with the Service Department to meet customer needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inventory Management:
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels to ensure availability of parts without overstocking.
  • Monitor and manage parts inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stocking parts.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and adjust orders based on sales trends and forecasts.
  • Ensure inventory valuation is accurately recorded and reported to the Dealership Controller
  • Customer Service:
  • Provide exceptional customer service to both internal (Service Department) and external customers.
  • Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure parts counter staff are trained and equipped to deliver excellent service.
  • Staff Management:
  • Recruit, train, and supervise Parts Department staff.
  • Schedule staff to ensure adequate coverage and efficient operations.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to improve staff performance.
  • Financial Management:
  • Develop and manage the Parts Department budget.
  • Monitor sales performance and implement strategies to achieve financial targets.
  • Analyze financial reports and adjust operations to enhance profitability.
  • Supplier Relations:
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with parts suppliers.
  • Negotiate favorable terms and pricing with suppliers.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of parts orders and returns.
  • Operational Efficiency:
  • Implement and maintain efficient processes and procedures within the Parts Department.
  • Utilize dealership management software for inventory control and sales tracking.
  • Collaborate with the service department to streamline parts supply and reduce wait times.
  • Compliance and Safety:
  • Ensure all operations comply with dealership policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe Parts Department.
  • Stay updated with industry regulations and standards.


EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Parts Manager in an automotive dealership or similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive parts and inventory management. (Ford Preferred)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in dealership management software (preferably Reynolds and Reynolds Ignite) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and manage budgets effectively.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift and carry parts and equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
