Software QA Test Engineer

Job Summary

Join the CM/QA Team for the opportunity to work with COTS, GOTS and in-house instrumentation hardware and software. Configure and explore varying technologies and methods to support standardized testing within an Army Developmental Test Command.

Individual will provide configuration management test support to on-site and remote personnel. Maintain catalog of software and hardware descriptions. Coordinate and maintain version documentation and release new software to assist with user requests. Implement varying software and operating system configuration changes as per test requirements. Provide technical guidance and experience to explore and recommend configuration settings to accomplish specific goals. Troubleshoot and repair equipment dynamically during on-going test efforts. Knowledge of networking concepts to assist in troubleshooting with physical and logical connectivity issues. This provides an excellent opportunity to build IT skills and work with a varying range of hardware and software while collaborating in a Developmental Test Environment with other IT professionals.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Proficiency in managing and administering Windows operating systems. Primarily a MS Windows OS environment, Linux and Cisco knowledge is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of how security and compliance best practices apply to system administration in a DoD environment.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong documentation and attention to detail.
  • Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Collaboration and communication skills for working with teams and stakeholders.
  • Continuous learning and familiarity with industry trends is a plus.
  • General knowledge of SCCM processes and deployment methods is a plus.
  • Scripting and automation skills (Batch, PowerShell) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with version control systems is a plus (TFS, Azure DevOps, Git).
  • Foundational knowledge of GPS and RF concepts is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Virtualization and containerization a plus

Educational/Training Requirements

Bachelors Degree and 5 years of experience or equivalent

Security + Certification must be obtained within 60 days of hire date

Required Skills/Experience

Work Environment:

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task. An inside environment may be a cubicle (considerations: close quarters, low to moderate noise, bright or dim lighting). Needs to be able to work well with co-workers, customer, and all levels of management. No hazards on job or unusual environmental conditions. Work site is located at Ft. Huachuca, AZ

Physical Demands

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require filing, typing, and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, included but not limited to: bending, reaching, turning and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distances may be required.

Other Skills And Abilities

Regular hours will be between Monday – Friday 7:00am – 4:00pm. This is a 9/80 work schedule allowing for every other Friday off. Regular attendance of scheduled hours is important. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines. Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements

Candidate must have excellent written and oral communications skills. Must be fully versed in MS Office products including MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Project. Must always demonstrate professional behavior when dealing with customers, management, and co

  • workers. Must have clear, concise, and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to employees or others. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner. Independent personal transportation to office or work site is required. Travel to and from customer’s locations and the test fields may be required to support projects. This may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can possibly be made for POV, if necessary. When operating any vehicle for work purposes, must wear seat belt and in addition, no cellular devices are to be used when vehicle is in motion. Must pass drug screen

Currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain the proper US DoD issued security clearance, which requires US Citizenship. Security clearance eligibility may be discussed during the interview phase.
