Summary

Provide energy analysis and design for single family builders in support of the International Energy conservation Code, RESNET HERS Index, Energy Star for Homes, National Green Building Standards and LEED for Homes. Other duties include providing code compliant documentation to builders, analysis information gathered in the field with computer generated models, home energy load calculations and other energy associated duties.

Reports to: Maston Stafford, Single Family Energy Modeling Manager

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Energy modeling that meets RESNET standards
  • Perform code complaint energy performance models that meet state or city local codes
  • Calculate energy savings for buildings
  • Identify and prioritize energy savings measures for clients
  • Prepare reports containing energy modeling results and recommendations for energy cost savings
  • Provide advice on code and energy program standards and regulations
  • Review and implement environmental codes, guidelines, policies that meet all appropriate requirements
  • Other duties assigned

Tools & Technology

  • Computer aided design CAD software – AutoCAD
  • Residential energy modeling software – REMRate and Ekotrope
  • Residential code compliance software – REScheck and IC3
  • Operating system software – Microsoft Windows 10
  • Spreadsheet software – Microsoft Excel
  • Database Software – Microsoft Access and QuickBase
  • Building and construction – knowledge of material and methods involved with the construction of houses
  • Capable of learning new software and energy conservation standards through independent study
  • Energy Codes – IECC 2015, 2018, 2021 Residential
  • Energy Programs – HERS index, LEED-H 2008, LEED-H V4, NGBS and Energy Star 3.1 & 3.2 for Homes
  • Building Science – Understanding the physical behavior of buildings as a system and how it impacts energy efficiency, durability, comfort, and indoor air quality
  • Mathematics – Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry and statistics
  • Physics – Knowledge of pressures and thermodynamics
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment with excellent time management skills
  • Capable of working under pressure while maintaining high quality standards
  • Ability to quickly learn new skills and provide effective information acquisition
  • Must be able to work independently and with a team
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills
