Associate Project Manager I - Environmental Specialist

Hours of Work: 8:30 am to 5:30 pm
Technical: 80%  Administrative: 20%
Office: 70% / Field: 30%

Education Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in an engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, project management, business administration, or public administration
  • OR A high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five (5) years' experience
  • OR A high school diploma or its equivalent plus any combination of college education and/or experience to make up the equivalent of five (5) years of education and experience. One year of experience will be given for thirty college credits.
  • A Master's degree from one of the disciplines described above
Experience Requirements:
  • Experience must be commensurate with the level of education cited above
  • Minimum of one year of experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Environmental reviews/assessments under National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) preferred
    • Environmental planning and compliance
    • Soil and groundwater sampling and remediation, stormwater management, spill prevention, air quality, and waste management
    • Demonstrated experience with historic preservation
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite applications
  • Must possess and demonstrate clear and concise writing skills

Description of Work:

The Consultant shall perform various tasks for capital projects in MTA C&D related to:
  • Environmental planning under federal and local laws, rules, and regulations
  • Environmental compliance under federal and local laws, rules, and regulations related to soil & water sampling, remediation, stormwater management, hazardous and regulated waste management, noise and vibration mitigation, air quality, spills, mold, and other related environmental issues
Other Job Requirements:
  • The Consultant shall take and pass an MTA New York City Transit Track Training prior to participating in work near or on the wayside.
  • The Consultant shall provide safety shoes, at no cost to the MTA or PEAK Technical Services, which meets MTA guidelines and specifications when participating in any activities located on the track or wayside.
  • The Consultant must complete a 30 Hour Occupational and Safety Health Administration (OSHA) Certification prior to participating in work on or near the wayside.
