We want to hear from creative problem solvers and team players who are competent in the disciplines of technical accounting, accounting and IT controls, audit, data governance, advanced analytics, business process improvement, change management, or a related field that might impact DoD Financial Management and Audit Readiness/Sustainment (FIAR).


Responsibilities

General functional responsibilities of an Audit Readiness & Sustainment professional

  • Prepares, examines, and analyzes accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  • Analyzes accounting operations, trends, costs, budgetary resources, financial commitments, and obligations, to project future trends or to provide advice.
  • Conducts financial management and accounting (FM&A) studies and evaluations, designs systems and procedures, and prepares reports, procedures, draft regulations, guidelines, briefings, and related documentation to assist in audit remediation for compliance with finance and accounting standards.
  • Develops, analyzes, evaluates, advises on, and or improves the effectiveness of accounting controls, processes, information and documentation systems, and similar finance and accounting functions.
  • Develops methods for problem solving, process change, and solutions implementation ensuring enterprise-wide integration.
  • Identifies best practices, assesses performance measurement and researches, collects and verifies data and translates it into strategic and operational guidance.
  • Guides and assists clients through a wide range of accounting improvement and modernization initiatives.
  • Supports customer requirements for communication of organizational vision, mission, and strategy.
  • Prepares background papers, briefings, and speeches; creates web and portal content; and performs similar organizational messaging activities.
  • Supports customers in the development, implementation, and maintenance of strategy, doctrine, standards, policies, and procedures.



As a Consultant you apply fundamental concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on work assignments, and performs work that requires practical experience and training (under supervision).

  • 3 years general FM&A experience
  • 1 year shall consist of auditing financial statements of federal government agencies or preparing agencies for audit.



As a Senior Consultant, you possess and apply expertise on multiple complex work assignments. Assignments may be broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks. You will operate with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems, and you will contribute to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable.

  • 5 years general FM&A experience.
  • 2 years shall consist of auditing financial statements of federal government agencies or preparing agencies for audit.



As a Managing Consultant you possess and apply a comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments; Plan and lead major work assignments; Evaluate performance results and recommend major changes affecting short-term project growth and success; Function as a technical expert across multiple project assignments; Direct the activities of more junior personnel or other staff as necessary; and May supervise others.

  • 8 years general FM&A experience
  • 5 years shall consist of auditing financial statements of federal government agencies or preparing agencies for audit



As a SME you provide technical/management leadership on major tasks or work assignments; Establish goals and plans that meet project objectives; and Have domain and expert technical knowledge and extensive experience in the development of solutions, recommendations, or outcomes (decision making and domain knowledge may have a critical impact on overall project implementation); Direct the activities of more junior personnel or other staff as necessary; and May supervise others.

  • 12 years general FM&A experience
  • 8 years shall consist of auditing financial statements of federal government agencies or preparing agencies for audit.



Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or similar discipline
  • SME level requires a Master's degree in accounting or similar disicpline
  • CPA, CDFM, CGFM, CISA, PMP or applicable certification is preferable.
  • Masters degree (in accounting or similar discipline) or advanced certification may be substituted for 1 year of experience.
  • DoD security clearance

  • Full-time, W-2, positions (no C2C)
  • Work location varies based on the role you fill. Most opportunities are remote, but some may require hybrid or f/t on-site
  • All positions require DoD security clearance, most commonly SECRET
