We are seeking a dedicated Behavior Specialist to join our diverse team in Geneva and be a part of our life-changing mission. The hours of this position are 8 AM - 4 PM, Monday through Friday.

About Our School

Marklund Day School is a non-public state-certified school that partners with area school districts to provide a highly specialized education experience. The therapeutic, sensory-driven Multi-Needs Program serves individuals ages 3 through 21 with medical, developmental, and physical disabilities. Through the Life Skills Program, teachers and paraprofessionals provide individualized functional curriculum and supports for students who are diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum, specific learning disabilities, and developmental disabilities.

You will make a difference in the lives of our students in the following ways:

  • Assist staff with training on students personal care and other activities of daily living
  • Collaborates with the RBTP, teacher, nursing staff, therapists, Behavior Analyst and building leadership to meet needs of the students
  • Assist the classroom staff and RBTP by observing, recording, and charting students progress.
  • Training on the implementation and data collection of replacement behavior goals to document student progress
  • Assist Behavior Analyst with related tasks, as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities and for the enhancement of daily operations of the school.
  • Supervise RBTPs as assigned
  • Observe and assist in managing the implementation of behavior protocols and behavior intervention plans of students approved by the Behavior Analyst for all staff
  • Monitor and implement behavior management techniques as instructed by the Behavior Analyst
  • Model appropriate behavior techniques and collaborate with the Behavior Analyst and RBTP
  • Monitor and provide constructive feedback to RBTP and staff on implementation of Individual student behavior protocols and behavior intervention plans (BIP)
  • Collect, record, and file student behavior data accurately
  • Assist behavior analyst in preparation of students behavior intervention plan and functional behavior assessment
  • Assist behavior analyst in graphing and analysis of data (using Microsoft Word, Excel and Google drive)
  • Present behavior data and information to IEP team in various school meetings (i.e. IEP meeting, Team Talks, 3 in 30 and etc.)
  • Assist the RBTP in conducting classroom meetings and debriefs before and after school
  • Assist the behavior analyst in conducing behavior related meetings
  • Assist the behavior analyst in classroom observations and functional behavior assessments
  • Assist behavior analyst in skill acquisition, behavior reduction, and classroom- based assessments
  • Assist the behavior analyst in design and training of new procedures, protocols and professional development

Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required
    • Bachelor's Degree in psychology, behavior, education, or related service training is preferred
  • BCBA trainee experience is preferred
  • Minimum of 6 months working as an RBTP
  • Must have a paraprofessional license, RBT, BCaBA, or BCBA certification
    • Substitute teacher certification is preferred
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job and to meet its functional and environmental requirements
