Maintenance Mechanic

We are currently seeking a qualified & experienced Diesel / Heavy Truck Mechanic in the Tampa, FL area. This is a full-time position with overtime available. Primary Purpose

Position requirements may vary but include providing maintenance for the Ft Myers vehicle fleet and ground support equipment, troubleshooting repairs, and/or modifications (must bring your own tools).

Principal Responsibilities

  • Inspect vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately.
  • Inspect vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain and upgrade.
  • Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts etc.) aiming to vehicle functionality and longevity.
  • Schedule future maintenance sessions and advise motorists on good vehicle use.
  • Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues. (e.g. leaks)
  • Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job.
  • Keep logs on work and issues.
  • Maintain equipment and tools in good condition.
  • Must have own Tools


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is a must.
  • High school diploma is preferred.
  • Valid certification (e.g ASE) is a definite plus.
  • Possession of applicable licenses and automotive-related vocational training preferred.
  • ASE Master certification preferred.
  • Proven experience as auto mechanic
  • Vehicle maintenance: preferred 4 years
  • Mechanic experience
  • Preferred 4 years fleet, automotive or truck vehicle advanced technical repair and maintenance experience.
  • Diagnostic experience required.


SKILLS:

  • Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic components of vehicles
  • Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods
  • Ability to handle various tools (e.g. pliers) and heavy equipment (e.g. lift)
  • Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protection against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, pass the Sterling background & DOT physical, and be able to drive a Non-CDL vehicle
