We are currently seeking a qualified & experienced Diesel / Heavy Truck Mechanic in the Tampa, FL area. This is a full-time position with overtime available. Primary Purpose
Position requirements may vary but include providing maintenance for the Ft Myers vehicle fleet and ground support equipment, troubleshooting repairs, and/or modifications (must bring your own tools).
Principal Responsibilities
Inspect vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately.
Inspect vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain and upgrade.
Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts etc.) aiming to vehicle functionality and longevity.
Schedule future maintenance sessions and advise motorists on good vehicle use.
Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues. (e.g. leaks)
Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job.
Keep logs on work and issues.
Maintain equipment and tools in good condition.
Must have own Tools
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is a must.
High school diploma is preferred.
Valid certification (e.g ASE) is a definite plus.
Possession of applicable licenses and automotive-related vocational training preferred.
ASE Master certification preferred.
Proven experience as auto mechanic
Vehicle maintenance: preferred 4 years
Mechanic experience
Preferred 4 years fleet, automotive or truck vehicle advanced technical repair and maintenance experience.
Diagnostic experience required.
SKILLS:
Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic components of vehicles
Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods
Ability to handle various tools (e.g. pliers) and heavy equipment (e.g. lift)
Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protection against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc.
Excellent physical condition

Must possess a valid driver’s license, pass the Sterling background & DOT physical, and be able to drive a Non-CDL vehicle
