Jr. Systems Administrator- Normal, IL

RoomReady is looking to expand our Technology team to include a Jr. Systems Administrator. The Jr. Administrator’s primary role is ensuring the consistent and reliable operation of systems, networks, and applications by maintaining and configuring them. This includes supporting the IT infrastructure by monitoring and updating software and hardware to achieve optimal system performance. This role is hybrid, with in-person reporting to our Normal, Illinois location.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the maintenance, configuration, and support of computer systems, networking devices, and servers. Ensure system configurations are secure and align with industry best-practices.
  • Administer software applications, assist with application configuration, deployment, and maintenance, manage licenses, and provision access to end users required to do their work.
  • Lead, develop, and maintain employee onboarding and offboarding processes within IT.
  • Lead IT asset management lifecycle, including procurement, inventory, deployment, and refresh of user workstations, peripherals, and network infrastructure.
  • Oversee patch management on both end-user workstations and internal systems.
  • Respond to IT help desk requests. Maintain velocity toward resolving all incidents and requests.
  • Monitor critical business systems and respond to alerts to maintain service availability.
  • Contribute to and maintain IT knowledgebase and end-user training documents.

Skills and Qualifications:

As a Jr. Systems Administrator, the ideal candidate will need excellent communication and customer service skills combined with the required qualifications below:

  • Proficient in installing, patching, and maintaining software applications.
  • Basic knowledge of networking theory and practices.
  • Working knowledge of virtualization, Hyper-V, or equivalent
  • Possess adequate communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with internal and external team members.
  • Ability to set up and configure server hardware.
  • Proficiency in programs such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to present self professionally and positively represent the company image.


Education And Experience

  • Associate’s degree in an IT-related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience with company-wide application management strategies.
  • Experience with monitoring and management solutions (RMM, MDM, NMS, etc).
  • Experience with Active Directory and Office 365.
  • ITIL 4 Foundation certification or ability to achieve within 6 months of employment.


Compensation & Benefits

The hiring range starts at $55,000 (more depending on qualifications) per year depending on experience and location. This position must report in-person to the Normal, IL office on a hybrid schedule, some remote work is possible. A comprehensive benefits package includes low-cost/or free employee medical, employer full paid dental, and vision, along with a 401(k) option. Paid time off and paid holidays.
