Principal Owners Engineer

We have partnered with a global consulting and engineering leader who is seeking a Principal Owners Engineer bringing extensive experience in developing and implementing renewable energy projects, the ideal candidate for this role must excel in both selling and doing. They should demonstrate a proven track record of successfully generating and expanding businesses. Ideally, they will possess a substantial client portfolio that can be transferred and cultivated in this position.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and mentor a team of multi-disciplined specialists to deliver owner’s engineering services, including design reviews, value engineering, contractor selection and negotiations, field inspections, progress monitoring, and construction management and quality oversight.
• Develop and execute team strategy and expansion plans, including hiring, internal reporting, and business development in coordination with other renewable team leaders.
• Ensure health, safety, and environmental considerations are integral to the delivery of projects and tasks.
• Add value, resolve issues, mitigate risks, and manage project finances, contractors, and contracts by applying robust project management practices and leveraging experience from previous projects.
• Regularly and accurately report the status of key projects to senior management.
• Participate in site visits and meetings both in the USA and abroad.
• Disseminate knowledge and experiences to team members, supporting their development and growth.
• Generate significant business growth (from $2M to $5M) within 12 months.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering (Civil or Electrical preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years' experience leading owner’s engineering services on renewable energy projects through the construction phase.
• Minimum of 8 years' experience delivering multiple multi-disciplinary renewable energy projects simultaneously.
• Experience in high-value contract management and managing contractors.
• PE license in power preferred; Project Management certification preferred.
• Ability to prepare high-quality, concise documents to convey project progress, status, and financial information to internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to lead and control site, progress, and contractor meetings, as well as manage and mentor a team of Project Engineers.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Valid driving license for use within the USA.
• Willingness for occasional domestic travel (up to 20%).
