The Internal Wholesaler is responsible for helping to drive sales by providing the Regional Vice President(s), Assistant Vice President, Sales, and the Vice President of Sales and Marketing, assigned core distribution partners, marketers, and top producers, with pro-active, high-end sales support. This position will also be key in analyzing marketplace intelligence relating to competitive products, programs, and systems in an effort to promote EquiTrust products and drive the achievement of annual company sales goals.

This individual will be responsible for supporting, developing and implementing Sales and Marketing strategies to promote and increase the sales of EquiTrust products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partners with the Regional Vice President’s (RVP) to identify and develop relationships with Independent Marketing Organizations (IMO) distribution including marketers and independent agents to attain or exceed company goals.
  • In partnership with Sales management and RVP’s, develops sales goals and marketing plans to grow sales, market share and increase visibility for EquiTrust.
  • Conducts proactive telephone sales presentations to independent producers and marketers at IMO offices to highlight EquiTrust products and value proposition. Creates talking points and agendas to utilize along with key selling points.
  • Sales activities to include extensive outbound and inbound phone activity, training webinars, coordination of necessary materials, etc. to achieve maximum reach.
  • Supports the Sales Desk team on an as-needed basis with both inbound and outbound phone coverage as carryover or due to increases in phone volume from other company initiatives.
  • Proactively seeks and supports the development of new initiatives to enhance EquiTrust’s success and market presence.
  • Assists the RVP’s as an internal liaison to provide assistance with administration escalations to provide support and resolve issues.
  • Responds to and resolves requests according to EquiTrust policies in a prompt, efficient, and courteous manner for external customers, departmental staff, and other EquiTrust personnel at all times.
  • Attends and participates in various strategic partner meetings, sponsorships, and conferences as needed.
  • Supports the Sales and Marketing team and/or other departments on an as-needed basis.
  • Willingly takes on additional responsibilities as requested in order to accomplish department and Company objectives.
  • Actively participates and contributes to the goals and objectives of the Company by working collaboratively and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Effective communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrates the ability to proactively identify and solve problems and issues of all types.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships and work effectively with all departments and affiliates to ensure integration of strategic goals and principles.
  • Demonstrates thorough, in-depth knowledge of company products, practices and procedures.
  • Capability to utilize technology to work more efficiently, more productively and as an auditing tool.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of internal and external resources, vendors as well as other departments.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.

Training or Work Experience:

  • Degreed Professionals: 4 years of life and annuity experience required.
  • 4 years sales or wholesaling experience required.
  • Non-Degreed Professionals: 6 years of life and annuity experience required.
  • 6 years sales or wholesaling experience required.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education or life and annuity industry experience required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • On-Site Location: West Des Moines, Iowa.
  • Business Travel: Moderate travel (10 – 20% of the time).
