Parks Operations Supervisor

As a Parks Operations Supervisor for the City, you will be leading assigned crews in carrying out daily activities, repair, and construction of parks recreation areas and landscaping.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include

• Provide direction to assigned personnel; schedule crew assignments; assist with completing and reviewing all work performed by the assigned crew(s); provide on-the-job training and oversight to less experienced personnel; provide input into crew member performance evaluations; may recommend disciplinary action.
• Works closely with the Parks Superintendent to plan and implement park construction and renovation projects within the City's parks system.
• Oversee crews completing routine cleaning and maintenance activities at related Parks and Recreation facilities; trim vegetation; clean grounds.
• Ensure assigned crewmembers comply with established operating standards and procedures, especially regarding safety.
• Maintain tools and equipment in safe and effective operating condition. Report unsafe or inoperable equipment to Parks Maintenance Supervisor(s) or make arrangements for required repair/replacement.
• Submit required reports and work orders regarding daily/weekly crew activities.
• Oversee preventative maintenance on equipment to ensure equipment is in proper working order.
• Ensure that tools materials and proper equipment are taken to the job site in an efficient and orderly manner.
• Maintain an on-call schedule.
• Implement departmental goals.
• Conduct weekly park checks, identify issues, and follow up with direct reports.
• Assist with setting and take down of park and city-wide events.
• Other related duties as assigned.
  
  

Qualifications And Skill Requirements

Formal Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Relatable Work Experience: Five (5) years of experience in a successful supervisory role. Five (5) years of experience in maintaining parks and recreational facilities and systems with progressively increasing responsibility.

Training, License, or Certifications: Valid Class C Texas driver's license.

Disclaimer: Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
