Summary

Support the achievement of company and departmental goals as they relate to assessing, monitoring, and reporting TEA's exposure to market, credit, regulatory and operational controls, and limits. Assist with the assessment and management of TEA's exposure to credit risk, counterparty risk, and performance risk through the implementation and development of measurements and limit structures consistent with TEA and Client risk tolerances. Assist the Manager of Credit Risk, Director of Credit and Risk Control, and VP of Risk Control in all risk related duties.

This position requires analytical thinking in addition to logic, awareness, acute problem-solving skills, and big picture thinking. These analysts understand the credit risks that TEA and Clients are exposed to by operating in the wholesale energy markets.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Maintain an understanding of the energy industry and mega-trends related to market, operational, regulatory, and credit.
    • Understanding of new products and how to protect TEA and its Clients from unwanted product risk.
    • Staying current on counterparty news and distributing relevant news as needed
  • In-depth understanding of Risk Reporting and Financial Models that are used to measure and model exposure and exposure uncertainty in the TEA and Client reporting framework.
  • Strong understanding of credit analytics, including financial statement spreading and analysis
  • Create limit structures appropriate for credit risk exposures and stakeholder tolerances.
  • Maintain deep familiarity of risk limit framework within TEA and its Clients Risk Policies
  • Ensure compliance with Risk and Credit policies and procedures.
    • Investigate and manage the documentation and reporting of Risk Policy violations, including discussing the violation with the violator.
    • Suggest and implement improvements to processes and procedures for use by TEA and its Clients.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all areas within and outside of TEA. Maintain high visibility within the organization, and interface with all levels of management as appropriate.
  • Develop a strong working relationship with trading, operations, legal, finance, and IT to ensure accurate and relevant information sharing across departments.
EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from a four-year college or university required; major in a technical or business-related discipline highly desired; advanced degree is a plus. Experience in a finance or energy role preferred.
  • Proficiency in Algebra: Basic algebraic operations are frequently used in financial analysis
  • Mathematical Modeling: Ability to develop and interpret mathematical models that simulate energy market behaviors.
  • Financial Mathematics: Understanding of financial concepts like Time Value of Money, Net Present Value, Internal Rate of Return, etc.
  • Probability Theory: Ability to assess and quantify risk using principles of probability.
  • Numeracy Skills: Ability to quickly and accurately perform calculations, and understanding of numerical data.
