Digital Producer

KOSU seeks a digital producer to help grow our audience by making content that is useful and engaging. The digital producer will work collaboratively with KOSU’s news and development teams to ensure station goals are consistently represented across our digital platforms. This person will work on innovative online projects, coordinate in-person events and use the best digital engagement practices for newsletters, text messaging and social media. The successful candidate will serve as a bridge between KOSU’s newsroom and its audience, thinking creatively about how to reach audiences where they are. They must be passionate about listening to the concerns of Oklahomans and finding answers to their questions.

The position will often require travel. The person is expected to be on call for breaking news events. Occasional work after hours or on weekends will be required.

Person must have ability to walk long distances while carrying broadcast equipment weighing 10 pounds.

Education & Experience

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in marketing, communication, journalism, or equivalent.

  • Two years experience as a working journalist or social media producer.
  • Experience using social media and digital tools, including newsletters.
  • Experience managing and implementing digital projects.
  • Must have excellent editing and writing skills, with expert attention to detail.
  • Must be proficient in AP Style.
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to meet deadlines and stay organized.
  • Must be able to excel both collaboratively and independently.
  • Must be able to adapt quickly in challenging and breaking news situations.
  • Must be able to work on short-term and long-term projects.
  • Must show good judgment and be committed to ethical journalism standards.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years experience as a working journalist or social media producer, preferably in public radio.
  • Experience reporting in marginalized communities or news deserts.
  • Familiarity with local and regional news and issues in Oklahoma.
