Job Description
ELECTRONIC RESOURCES METADATA LIBRARIAN, MIT Libraries , to manage metadata workflows for electronic resources across all formats. Will emphasize equity, diversity, inclusion, and social justice in metadata practices and discovery environments. Responsibilities include creating and editing metadata for e-serials, e-books, databases, and datasets in both MARC and non-MARC formats; maintaining collections; managing batch record imports; supervising two staff members; coordinating metadata production; fostering communication and building collaborative relationships within the library; staying updated on metadata trends and standards; developing training materials; advising on metadata policies; contributing to system-wide initiatives; and supporting the library's vision of accessible knowledge through innovative metadata management. Will report to the lead metadata strategist.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED : master’s degree in library/information science or a relevant field; at least three years of relevant experience; experience leading and managing staff; comprehensive understanding of cataloging and authority standards (RDA, DCRM, LCSH, LC classification, MARC, Dublin Core) and familiarity with best practices for electronic resources; effective communication and customer service skills; flexibility; ability to work both independently and collaboratively; strong problem-solving skills; support for the Libraries’ commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and social justice; and knowledge of emerging technologies, library automation systems, OCLC, data management, and project planning. PREFERRED : experience with Ex Libris’ Alma, acquisitions practices, vendor management, and scripting for process automation. Job #24063-8
