The Research Assistant -- Resiliency Training will participate in a workforce resiliency research and implementation project led by prominent researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Mongan Institute, funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute. This study joins together federal funding, researchers, and two leading human service providers to improve resiliency and reduce burnout among staff working in group homes for adults with serious mental illness and developmental and intellectual disabilities. The study will implement a Resiliency Training designed by researchers at MGH which has shown to be effective at improving resilience and reducing stress among healthcare workers. The Research Assistant -- Resiliency Training will be trained to implement the program with fidelity to the model design across 180 randomized group homes.

  • Assists in the preparation, collection and tracking of study surveys and secondary data. Obtains consent from study participants. Establishes and maintains tracking system for survey completion.
  • Handles compensation to study participants for completion of surveys.
  • Evaluates the validity of data; obtains verification through further interview or research for any responses considered to be questionable. Notifies Principal Investigator and Project Manager of questionable data that cannot be verified and elaborates, as requested.
  • Ensures that subject and data confidentiality and integrity are maintained at all times.
  • Prepares materials for the study, including survey and participant consent forms.
  • Assists with the implementation of the study protocol including monitoring receipt of study data forms, providing study forms and materials to staff in the field.
  • Assists with Institutional Review Board (IRB) materials and coordinates with appropriate IRBs regarding protocols and requirements.
  • Attends weekly research team meetings.
  • Effectively and ethically communicates study protocol and research goals to site personnel
  • Assists in the preparation of oral presentations of research findings and their significance in various settings such as departmental/laboratory staff meetings, conferences, meetings, and professional societies.
  • Communicates with research personnel in multiple settings.
  • Performs other duties, as required.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Prior research experience is preferred and at least 1 year of experience in health care, social service, and/or research, or the equivalent is required.
  • Experience working with people with psychiatric disabilities or developmental disabiliies is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to plan and schedule activities and operate independently with minimal direction
  • Familiarity and experience with the requirements of data management
