Position Title: Electrical Control & Instrument Technician

Location: Newberry Springs, CA

Reports To: Maintenance Manager


Pay Range Commensurate to Experience:

Min: $39 to $55

Schedule: Weekend Flexibility (Usually 3-day weekend every other week), Alternative Work Schedule (12 hours per day, 10 hours Regular Pay, 2 hours overtime). Worked Holidays at Double-time and one half for 12-hour shift.

5E Boron Americas, LLC (5E BA), formerly known as Fort Cady (California) Corporation is a wholly owned subsidiary of 5E Advanced Materials, Inc. (5E). 5E BA’s corporate office and team is located in Hesperia, CA and the project site is located in Newberry Springs, CA. 5E BA’s Borate Mine hosts a multi-generational Borate resource where boric acid will be produced for the large North American specialty chemicals market including high-end technologies such as electric vehicles, defense, and specialty magnets. The Fort Cady project site is an exceptionally rare and large colemanite deposit.


Position Summary:

The Electrical Control & Instrument Technician will support the engineering design and development of electrical control and automation systems and devices. This position will provide setup, configuration, troubleshooting preventative maintenance and repair of electrical control systems and prototypes.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Support the maintenance program’s goal of zero unscheduled breakdowns.
  • Operate in a safe and logical manner in accordance with site procedures and applicable OSHA regulations and laws.
  • Perform preventive maintenance work at various frequencies to identify and prevent excessive, wear, defects, and damage; recommend equipment reliability improvements.
  • Understanding, evaluating, and executing the tests and procedures properly and investigating the Maintaining and setting up documentation and control procedures
  • Generate Instrument Deviation Reports (IDR) for out of tolerance calibrations of process instrumentation and promptly notify the department facilitator and site instrument officer.
  • Develop and maintain calibration "Standard Service Procedures" (SSP) documents and databases.
  • Developing and improving maintenance procedures
  • installing, maintaining, repairing, overhauling, calibrating, and testing a wide variety of industrial instrumentation such as control valves, transmitters, radars, levels, Controlling and regulating level, flow, pressure, and temperature meters
  • Executing preventative maintenance inspections on all instrumentation equipment
  • Interpret, evaluate, and document calibration test results.
  • PLC programming / program modifications
  • Perform electrical repair, installation and troubleshooting of three phase 480v AC and low voltage systems.
  • Document all maintenance actions performed into the maintenance work order system and record materials and parts consumption.
  • Submit purchase requisitions to replenish materials and parts when inventory grows low or is depleted.
  • Learn and apply continuous improvement programs such as root cause analysis, 5S and other waste elimination strategies.
  • Study manufacturer manuals and blueprints and carefully follow directions when operating or commissioning newly acquired machinery.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of electrical experience is a must.
  • 2 years of instrumental and or controls experience in a industrial setting
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, climb, squat, reach, and kneel.
  • Comfortable reading and understanding electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Working knowledge of electrical theory, and the associated principles, materials, and equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to operate hand and power tools associated with electrical work.
