Opportunity

We are seeking a Benefits Specialist who will be responsible for managing and administering employee benefits programs. This role requires a detail-oriented and organized individual with a strong understanding of benefits administration, compliance, cost implications, company policies, and employee communications. The Benefits Specialist will work closely with HR, finance, and employees to ensure our benefits programs are administered as efficiently as possible, are competitive, and contribute to the overall well-being of our workforce

  • Administers several employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, life insurance, and wellness initiatives. Processes employee benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations accurately and within established deadlines. Maintains accurate and up-to-date employee benefits records and data.
  • Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations related to employee benefits, including ERISA, ACA, and HIPAA. Prepares and submits required benefits-related reports and filings. Keeps abreast of legislative changes and industry trends to adapt benefits programs as needed.
  • Maintains strong relationship with finance, handling billing and invoicing and administering reports needed for cost allocation and accrual processing.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries related to benefits programs. Educates employees about available benefits options, assisting them in making informed decisions. Resolves benefits-related issues and discrepancies promptly.
  • Collaborates with benefit plan providers and vendors to ensure efficient administration and resolves any issues. Evaluates vendor performance and supports the negotiation of contracts as necessary to optimize benefits offerings.
  • Develops and distributes benefits-related communication materials, including open enrollment guides, plan summaries, and updates. Conducts benefits orientation sessions for new employees and provides ongoing communication regarding benefits changes.
  • Manage open enrollment process, including communication, enrollment meetings, and data management.
  • Assists in the design and implementation of wellness initiatives to promote employee health and well-being. Tracks and analyze the effectiveness of wellness programs and recommends improvements.

Skills/Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in human resources or business required, with a preference towards a bachelor’s degree and/or certification such as the PHR or SHRM-CP.
  • 2+ years of experience in benefits administration
  • Experience supporting 3000+ employees
  • Experience with unions, pension, retirement or compliance reporting a bonus
  • Strong knowledge of employee benefits regulations, compliance, and best practices
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

The salary range for this position is $69,800 - $87,950. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
