Guest Experience Lead

Mural City Cellars is Philadelphia’s first independently-owned urban winery. Our small, passionate team makes dry, fruit-forward wines with grapes sourced within 300-miles of the city. We are expanding the team at our new Winery, Bottle Shop, and Bar at 1831 Frankford Avenue and looking to fill the position of guest experience lead.

The individual in this position will wear a number of hats, but the main responsibilities are as follows:

Wowing guests and creating a great vibe:

  • HOSPITALITY - show a great time to all guests at MCC at the winery and in the Wine Garden
  • Act as maitre’d, helping people to orient themselves in the space and build out space for every guest
  • Set a great mood in the space- lighting, music, and ambiance
  • Throw a party every night
  • Ensure service is running smoothly and that guests have what they need
  • Get to know regulars and other winery guests
  • Sell Wine Club Memberships

Aiding staff as needed:

  • Assist staff with service - be familiar with all positions and be able to jump in where needed
  • Communicate with staff regarding guest needs

Keeping operations at the wine bar running smooth:

  • Having eyes on the entire room and anticipating guests needs
  • Assist staff with comps, voids, and other service issues and questions
  • Assist with taking care of private events and group reservations
  • Deep product knowledge of MCC wines & other items we carry
  • Create playlists
  • Close the winery each night - count the register, write a wrap up, assist staff with closing duties

What We’re Looking For

  • Passion for East Coast wine or a strong interest in learning about the full range of Mural City Cellar wines and other offerings at the wine bar
  • Interest in working for a small, independently owned business
  • Flexibility and openness to working all stations and swapping duties at a moment’s notice
  • Understanding of the constantly growing and changing nature of working for a small business
  • Ability to be a team player
  • Warm and hospitable
  • Genuinely care for people and want them to feel comfortable and happy
  • Passion for and interest in wine, community, art, music, design is a plus
  • Experience working in wine, hospitality, or customer service is a plus

Compensation

  • Pay is $24 per hour along with a 25% employee discount, nightly comp budget to "make it nice", and accrued PTO. This position is non-tipped.
  • 40 hours PTO.
  • One hour of paid sick leave earned for every 40 hours worked. There is a maximum of 40 hours able to be earned over each year. These hours do not roll over.
  • Attend up to two Wine Classes per year with a guest (complimentary).
  • Murl City wine shift drink each after each shift worked

Schedule

  • Thursday 6PM-close (11PM)
  • Friday 6PM-close (12AM)
  • Saturday 4PM-close (12AM)
  • Sunday 11AM-7PM
  • Potential to change based on business needs

Individuals applying to this position must be able to regularly work during all of the shifts listed above.

Other Details

  • Must be employed for a minimum of one year before applying to other positions at Mural City Cellars.
