Job Description

Work Schedule: Full Time – 8hr/day (Working on Pacific Standard Time)

Location: LA’s BEST City Hall Location - Los Angeles, CA (remote for now due to COVID)

Project Period: 02/14/2022 - 02/13/2023

Goal of the Project

The goal of the Community Engagement VISTA project at LA’s BEST is to strengthen community engagement and boost the organization’s capacity to raise awareness and funds to support children living in Los Angeles’ economically distressed neighborhoods.

Objective of the Assignment

The VISTA Community Engagement Fellow will be part of the Development Team, helping to increase, track, and analyze the engagement of LA’s BEST stakeholders, which may include our students, parents, current and former staff, staff, donors, volunteers, elected officials and community members. The fellow will outreach and engage with these stakeholders to support the organization's advocacy, communications, and fundraising efforts. In addition, the fellow will find, track and share resources to share with the LA’s BEST community. To be most successful in this role, the candidate will enjoy outreach and engagement with diverse communities, research, and project management.

Member Activity: Conduct outreach to and maintain ongoing engagement with diverse stakeholders -- such as students, parents, current and former staff, staff, donors, volunteers, elected officials and/or community members -- to inspire them to be champions for LA’s BEST.

Member Activity: Gather qualitative and quantitative information from stakeholders to share the impact of LA’s BEST, including interviews, surveys, and/or requests for quote, photos or videos.

Member Activity: Research, track and share opportunities and resources relevant to the LA’s BEST community from a variety of public and private sources.

Member Activity: Help build and maintain partnerships to support the work of LA’s BEST, including with other non-profit organizations, institutes of higher education, and public officials.

Member Activity: Research, track and synthesize studies, articles, and research that pertain to LA’s BEST work and community, supporting the integration of these resources into advocacy, communications, and fundraising.

Member Activity: Drive project management and tracking of stakeholders and resources, utilizing a database and additional systems to ensure organized and up-to-date records.
