Ahhhh, Prince...A friend of mine said Prince was my wing man because I quoted him when attempting to get dates with women. I even used Bambi once to convince a lesbian she should go on date with me. She laughed, but she went out with me! To say I love his artistry is an understatement. I bought this because this was my first exposure to him as a teen, and lost the vinyl version I had. The guitars on Bambi and Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad are simply amazing. One time at a concert of his I saw Prince silence all other musicians while he sang, played piano, and strummed his guitar all at the same freaking time!!! The song was Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad. Truly Prince is the "Mozart" or "Beethoven" of our time! Rest peacefully, Sir! Most of all, thank you!!!!!! 😢

Prince's second album, on which he played all the instruments and performed all the vocals (except backing vocals by close friend/bassist André Cymone on "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad?") as well. Certified platinum and contains three R&B/dance hits: "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad?", "Sexy Dancer" and "I Wanna Be Your Lover". "I Wanna Be Your Lover" sold over two million copies and received a platinum disc, rushing to No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 (becoming Prince's first hit single) and topped the R&B charts too. An interesting early album by a man who would become known as a rock icon.

When this album first was released, I was too young to listen to such lyrics. I purchased this CD a couple of months ago. I must say that I wasn't disappointed. I love every track.

I recommend the CD Prince - 1979 to everyone who is a fan of his music.

Being a young woman, I wasn't just into his music. I liked everything about him. I had a crush on him when I was a little girl in the 1980s.

I enjoy all music by Prince to this day.

I can tell that he could even sing opera if he wanted to. Funky Opera, Now that's a thought. A new genre. He can do it. Maybe it is in the Vault! Hmmm...Priceless. Thank You Prince.

'I Wanna Be Your Lover' is a great post-Disco/Funk song with a great beat; I loved Prince's vocals as well as the guitars, drums synthesizers and the song is great to sing along and dance to; 'Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad?' is a good song with Prince's vocals,drums,synthesizers and guitars (the intro sounded a little like 'I Wanna Be Your Lover'); 'Sexy Dancer' is a great song with a great beat, synthesizers, drums, guitars, piano as well as Prince's vocals; 'When We're Dancing Close And Slow' is a very nice 'slow jam',I liked Prince's vocals as well as the drums, piano and guitars; 'With You' is a lovely 'slow jam' with drums, piano, synthesizers and Prince's vocals which he sang the song passionately; 'Bambi' is an 'interesting' song with guitars, drums as well as Prince's vocals; the song is about Bambi who likes women and Prince wants Bambi to like him; 'Still Waiting' is another nice 'slow jam', I loved Prince's vocals as well as the drums, piano and background vocals (the song almost sounds like a throwback song of the Motown era); 'I Feel For You' is a good song with Prince's vocals, synthesizers, drums and guitars (I liked singer Chaka Khan's version of the song better); 'It's Gonna Be Lonely' is a very melancholy song about Prince and his girlfriend breaking up (I liked the drums, guitars and Prince's vocals). Prince - ja man hatte Respekt, weil er vieles allein gemacht hat und er konnte Gitarre spielen (ja noch viel mehr), aber richtig Fan .. nee war ich nie. Doch wenn man durch seinen Release Katalog geht wird einem klar - der man war Disco, Funk, Soul, Pop und konnte auch Rock. Diese Scheibe gibt einem Häppchen um dann zu erkennen wie großartig der Mann war. Ich habe die Tage ein paar alte Scheiben aus dem Keller geholt, so geht es einem bei der Scheibe. Man erkennt die Skizzen der späteren Hits. Ähnlich wie bei den alten Scheiben von M. Jackson oder Springsteen ist hier noch alles roh und voller Energie.
