Etymology
editApplied in late 19th century Taiwan during Qing rule. Pingpu 平埔族 (Píngpǔzú) and Gaoshan 高山族 (Gāoshānzú) were used interchangeably with the epithets "cooked" 熟番 (shúfān) and "raw" 生番 (shēngfān)
