Brother Was Wrong!

Pictures are out of order but this shows a special daddy/Son moment.
Isn't this sweet?
This is after his surgery.
Today was the day for Brother's surgery to see what he had in his ear.
He was a brave little boy.
Since the steroid shot Brother has not been in pain and
was convinced that whatever it was had fell out.
He could not eat or drink after midnight last night and his surgery was at 12:30 so he was showing us how hungry he was. He sucked his stomach in to show how empty it was!

The nurses had him practice blowing into this mask and
told him to pretend he was blowing up a balloon.
Here he is after surgery still asleep.
He looks so little. He is 6 years old.
Sweet Dreams
Mommy giving him some gatorade after surgery.
She is telling him that the doctor found a bead (like off a necklace) in his ear.
They said that there are so many things in the ocean
and that the pressure from the waves just pushes things
in peoples ears.
Brother waking up from surgery.
Brother was wrong. The doctor was right.
Mommy, Daddy & Brother leaving after his surgery.
They took him to the Waffle House to eat so his stomach would not be skinny anymore.
He is doing great.

Here we are with him telling him how much we love him.
Well, actually Paw Paw was asking him if he was ready to fight.
They wrestle all the time.
Notice the doggie pajamas?
I made them for him last year and he wears them all the time.
Thank you all for the prayers for Brother.

Oh Brother!

We had just returned from our vacation in Florida this past Saturday night. Brother had started complaining with his ear. At first we just thought water was in it. Then I thought maybe an ear infection. When he woke up on Sunday morning he could not open his little mouth and was holding his head and saying it hurt so bad. His Mommy (our daughter) took him to the doctor. It is a good thing she did. They said that they saw a foreign object in it and they wanted to send him to a specialist. They gave him 2 shots on Sunday.
Here he is telling me how bad it hurts.

I had the grand kids on Monday so we met Shannon at the Ear Nose and Throat doctor.
Here is me and my little sidekick sitting and waiting on the doctor to check him.

Here he is showing me the 2 shots he got. He got a antibiotic shot for infection and a steroid shot for the swelling. They said it was so swollen and that it was pressing on nerves. That is why he was in so much pain. On Monday the steroid shot kicked in and he was bouncing off the walls. He wasn't in pain anymore but he talked a mile a minute. He was wild.

We met Mom here Monday afternoon and he is checking out the games on the cell phone.
He was still wild and had a lot of nervous energy. He kept telling us that he thought it fell out of his ear. We were hoping that he was right.

This is right before the doctor came in. Brother was trying to stay tough but a Mommy hug always helps.

The doctor checked his ears and he agreed that there is something in there. He told us that we would not believe what he sees. He says when people get in the ocean there are so many things that can get in your ears. So Brother was wrong. It was still there. The steroids are just covering up the pain. Not only that but it is so deep the doctor thinks that surgery is in order. He said that he thought it would be too traumatic for Brother without putting him to sleep. So Thursday he will be having surgery. I hate anytime that you have to be put to sleep but I know that it is better than being awake.
Will you keep Brother in your prayers?

My Granddaughter's Surgery

Here is Triston's parents talking to surgeon after surgery.
He is showing a picture of how they went in and went behind her lungs and heart to clip these nerves. You can't even see my daughter in this picture and don't ask me who that man is facing us. I have no idea.

Here she is all drugged up after surgery. She asked me not to show her face but she knows that Gran has to show at least one. She is beautiful.

Here she is being wheeled out to the car.

She probably won't remember any of this so I took pictures to show her later.

My sweet granddaughter Triston had surgery yesterday. She had a condition called Hyperhidrosis. Have you heard of this? It is where the palms of her hands & feet sweat more than most people. I had never heard of this before. I would not notice it unless Triston brought it to my attention but it bothered her so much that it affected her life. They went in behind her heart and clipped the nerves that triggered this. There was a good chance that it would fix the hands only and hardly touch the feet if at all. Her doctor told her that the surgery would be mainly for her hands and she was fine with that. She just wanted it fixed. But when she came out of surgery they said her hands and feet are both dry. They had told us that we would see an immediate difference and we did! So far, so good. She came through the surgery fine and will have a few days to recooperate. The surgery only took an hour but she was in recovery several hours. We got to the hospital at 12:00 and left at 6:00 p.m. It was a long, nervous day for us but Triston wasn't nervous or scared at all. We are so thankful she is doing well. Please keep her in your prayers.
