My Blue Blog....for now

So I changed the color of my blog to BLUE.
Perhaps I too have my blue days, but not in a sad way-just colorful. Have a bluetiful day.

In the process of....

Getting on.

It is time to get back to doing what has to be done.
Being in a "semi-daze"  has kept me from the duties of my life. It's good to feel what has to be felt and then its....

Time to open the doors and let the sunshine of life come in.

Time to shout out for the joy of life:

LIFE
LOVE
SPIRIT
THANKFULNESS
(Anne's words)

Going forward in LIFE, sharing my LOVE with a SPIRIT of THANKFULNESS is on my agenda. Words to live by.

When I finish this post it will be back to the normality of things.

Clean house (as best I can)(which isn't always very good)

Plan a menu for dinner

Feed the family pet members

Check on the bills

Dry chili's in dehydrator once again, grind them down, put on paper plates left to sit on counter top for a couple of days, toss in micro for 15 sec, maybe 20, wait till cool and then jar. Yearly duties.:)....

.....and today it will be studio day where one can get lost in their passion. In my case, it's a mess in there. Husband put together a metal shelf that will get used. I want to take out the huge table that is in there and add a small daybed. The shelf will be up against and on the other side of my worktable. Paints, etc. will go there. I'll take pix later of this project of studio stuff once again. Never ending, but that's the way I love it!

So I'm going now to do my stuff in a happy way. Drink another cup of coffee and on with life, love, spirit, and thankfulness.

My Haiku

One asks, what is life?
Ah, there is no description.
You have to live it.

HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY, ENJOY LIFE.

In a semi-daze

A Few Words

It's a strange and sad thing when blogger friends are lost. Strange because one feels they know the person's soul even though one hasn't physically met the other person. Sad because we feel that we did know them, kindred spirits.  Each time we do a post, our words come from within. We search for the right words so as not to offend anyone. We pour our hearts out with our thoughts and feelings-that is soul.

There have been at least 3 blogger friends that have left this world, not to speak of someone's mother or father, sister or brother, dog or cat which has shattered lives. These feelings are passed on through cyberspace,  and we who blog with blogger friends feel the pain of loss as if it were here with us.

It is hard to describe the feelings, but the sadness lingers. Today as I was outside picking apples and drinking tea with my husband, I thought of Anne and how she loved the outdoors. It saddened me to think that she is no longer in this world.  Then I thought that she is in a better world now. No more pain, heartache or worry. She is free to paint and laugh and joke-perhaps with Renee.

I spent last night re-reading her posts from the day she started. She started blogging the year after me. I read her posts and seen just how much soul she had. Her happy days, her working days, her studio days, food days, meetings days, pain days, crazy days, fun days, blogging days and she did a lot of blogging. She loved it and always thanked her new follower's for following her.

I bought a box today at Michael's and want to make a little shrine box out of it. It's what her last post was about. A work she hadn't been able to complete and on March 22nd of this year she posted that it was done! Click on the link to see her beautiful work. She was very happy about it. There were no more posts after that. It was quiet since then. I emailed her a few times to see how she was doing and each time she said she was "getting along."

I will think of Anne with happy memories. Listening to her jazz music when I went there made me happy. I could almost see her dancing to it. She was very angry when Playlist took that link away, no more music.  It was "jazz."

Good Night Anne, say hello to Renee and live on!

Farewell Anne

You will be missed Anne
ANNE
(this picture of Anne was borrowed from Georgina's blog)

Anne I nicknamed you "Scythe Woman" after you did that post of you working in the field with a scythe. You had your coveralls on, a sleeveless t-shirt and were weeding away happilly so. This was back in 2010.

My memories of you are happy ones. Going into your blog and listening to your jazz music always relaxed me while I read what you posted. You always had something good to say about everyone. Rest in peace blogger friend. I'll always remember you.
Say hello to Renee who we all still miss.

Paint Party Friday and 29 Faces-24-29

Linking up with Martha over at 29 Faces-2013 and also with
PAINT PARTY FRIDAY.  I didn't have a post for PPF, and it has been a very sad day as a blogger friend has left this world. Even though we never met in person, Anne's heartfelt words always stayed with me. I will never forget Anne as I have never forgotten Renee.

Thanks for hosting Eva and Kristin.

I   cheated a bit with the coloring book and these five heads/faces on one neck.
What the heck, it's all in fun.

Well I got through the 29 Faces the best I could. I'm done and thanks Martha for the fun. Now it's on to my crate box and a canvas to be started soon. I won't be taking up any new projects for the time being. Have to concentrate on the crate for now and of course PPF. I actually don't have anything for PPF this week. I'll have to find something. (earlier said)

The hands seem to be saying, "Please, one at a time!" As you can see there are no real noses. First of all it's very hard for me to draw/paint noses and I just couldn't get noses on these ladies. Incomplete work,  but Martha said it was okay if incomplete.

5 Heads/faces are better than one
but where are the noses?

If You Dry them, they will come.

The seeds that is, dry the seeds and save for next year. We have done this for many years and we always get new growths.

Most of the chili I harvested has been dried and ground to a powder.  The various squash will be eaten and the seeds dried and saved for next year.

Just like these veggies flourish, my well being feels the same way each time I see the goods.

A few of these squash were new to me. I bought them at Safeway and I'm saving the seeds so that we can grow them next year. Oh, I think I already said this. Sorry, I'm excited.

Some of these chili's will be dried or cooked and frozen.
These squash we ate tonight. A little butter and some brown sugar, good to go.

I'm counting on these seeds for next year.

Ah, seeds to be sown
In the coming year to be
For now, they shall dry.

29 Faces-September 2013, #'s 21, 22, 23

Continuing with Martha's 29 Faces for September 2013. If you get a chance stop by even though it's almost over. Practice is good.

Today I'm going in my studio to work on my crate box as now that I'm better and almost normal, the crate needs work.

Another thing this week,  I won a teapot over at Martha's at:   Martha's blog and I love it. Thanks Martha, I'll adore it more upon receipt. It's appreciated.
(This is another Martha and not Martha from 29 Faces)

Went downtown to the county to pay property taxes and hooray! We don't have to worry about taxes till this time next year.

Also went to Hobby Lobby and picked up some of the Createx Transparent paints that I heard about on another blog.  Will try them soon.

Have been moderating for some time now, but I feel like making tortillas and beans and rice and guess what? It will be done today!! No moderating today, food is wanted. After all I am just getting better, ahem. tee hee.

Okay one last thing, got to do a Haiku and then my doodles.

My Haiku

I was sick as heck!
Eight days of cough and fever.
Finally, I'm well.

Okay, so here are 21, 22, 23 for 29 Faces. I've been using water colors that are here in the house so haven't been out to the studio to grab acrylics. Watercolors are rich in color. I'm kind of getting used to them. Acrylics though are my thing.

Just quick drawings and color added, no thought to what would come about. I'm missing my canvas work and have to do a real painting on canvas soon. Of course it would be of Frida.

# 21-How could you do that to me?

#22 wip-I'll have a vodka on the rocks please. You seem surprised?

#23 Flower Face Lady-I'm stuck in the garden.

Have a great Tuesday and enjoy the new season. I'm loving it.

29Faces-September 2013 #20

Just to let you know that some gadgets aren't working and also some links. I had to take them off for a bit until fixed. So if you don't see your names on my sidebar as to who I'm following, don't worry, I'm still following you all.:)

September 22, 2013 and Autumn

AUTUMN IS HERE

NO PICTURES ARE NEEDED BECAUSE I CAN SEE IT ALL.

Ah, Sunday. We all love Sundays. I especially love this coming Sunday as with it come the oranges, yellows, brown, and all the golden colors of this season. Falling leaves, pine cones, this and that and all leading to what I say is out with the old and in with the new. Burst of energy!

How I look forward to this time of year. I feel younger, pretty, happy and full of life. I forget about the pains and aches in my knees and hip, as though without a care in the world, but we all know sadly that there is always something lurking in the shadows to disrupt the moment.

For now though, I hear the wind, my wind chimes are making their music, the tall cypress trees are dancing to their music and my body is swaying, wanting to dance too.

I have a foldaway small bed that is going into my studio so that time can be spent in there with the windows open, the scents from outside making their way in to the studio. Moments of pleasure quietly spent.  Life is beginning anew and with it so am I. If only to share these moments with family now gone.

Perhaps a butterfly will come in to the open door of my studio and then I will know I am visited by my loved ones no longer here. Val, I'll wait for your visit and have something for you to drink and eat. Like your favorite menudo, tacos, corn tortillas fried as chips and hot salsa.  Dad, I'll make some albondigas and tortillas for you, how you loved them.

Just a few quiet words to bring in tomorrow with a bang of life!

COME ON IN AUTUMN, I WAIT FOR YOU!

Autumn begins on Sunday, September 22, 2013 (in 2 days) and ends on Saturday, December 21, 2013.

PAINT PARTY FRIDAY-Coloring Book FUN & 29 FACES 13-19

Been under the weather but still finding a little time to have fun.

I posted about Ari Seth Cohen last week on 29 Faces so I just copied some of the text on here. I'm also linking this to 29 Faces. 13-19

Ari Seth Cohen's book, Advanced Style in hard cover . You can click on the link to check it out. His hard cover book and the new coloring book can be purchased at Amazon or ordered from Barnes & Noble. I bought my hard cover from Amazon last year when it came out. It's awesome. Some of you have been to his blog because I see his link on your sidebar. His interest in his work of photographing senior women and their beauty just caught my attention. There are so many wonderful beautiful ladies and handsome men that he photographs and shares with us in his book.

Now he has come up with a coloring book version and I just had to have it.

This is it below and I am having the most fun with it. Before posting any of these illustrations, I emailed him and asked for his okay in posting the pictures of the book,  and of the one's I've colored/painted and he said of course it was okay. Here are some of them ready to post.

Here is Ari's color book which is totally awesome,  and Han Schraer's excellent illustrations.

The front cover of one of his ladies who is just beautiful.

Credit goes to Ari Seth Cohen, photographer and much more, and credit to
Han Schraer for his illustrations. Thank you for allowing me to post your faces. All these images are women that Ari Seth Cohen has photographed and has made friends with. He is an amazing man that is dedicated to his profession and the women of the world. Bravo!

So I simply and do mean simply colored them. Tee hee. It was fun. I didn't use Crayola's, instead watercolor was used. The color didn't really leak to the other side which is a good thing. The pages have gotten a brittle feel like our journals that we paint in, awesome.

I tried the Pitt pens but they seemed to leak through a little, switched back to the watercolor. I need to learn to do illustrations such as these by Han Schraer.

Here are the illustrations that I colored in during my awful cold (which I still have) and really had a lot of fun with.

 Enjoy.

These illustrations were colored by gloria

Thanks again Ari for allowing me to post your faces

I will be by your blogs, hope you had fun looking at these beautiful women of class and lots of thanks for stopping by. Take care and HPPF.

Pictures too BIG on blog

Is anyone having the same problem I just discovered? My pictures on my sidebars have exploded in size. I had to move some to the bottom because they were covering posts or other. Is this another trick from Google to get us to move from the old Blogger to Google +?

I don't put it past them. They did say switching over was where it was at because in time there would be problems with various features on the old Blogger. Switching over is something not on my list.

Well as you can tell, I'm rowdy so that means I'm getting better from this awful cold/cough that has kept me indoors since last Thursday, almost a week. It's been terrible but today it feels that it's time to start things moving along.

When I'm ailing, it has to be me that takes care of me. I really don't like to impose on anyone, even though husband is there if needed. I haven't stayed in bed much because there are still many things to be done. There are duties that need to be carried out and since those duties are cooking, washing, dusting, cleaning, mopping, bookkeeping, balancing budget, making out bills, taking care of family pet members, making husbands lunch at 6 AM, and these things fall on my shoulders, they need to be carried out, sick or not.

I'm not complaining, honest. In fact I'm lucky that I don't have to go to work. I do all these things at my leisure, and they do get done.

How weird, I haven't posted like this in ages. Tee hee. Any way much hasn't happened in the art field other than coloring in a color book. I have a new color book and it will be for my PPF post on Friday, since brush hasn't met canvas in a while.

Thank you for your get well emails and comments on my blog.

I WILL LIVE, but Blogger is messing up and all these words seem to be getting large or am I imagining it? See you on Friday and sorry I haven't been to your blogs, I'll get there soon.

My Haiku

My Wednesday Haiku on a Monday at the end of this short post.

3 days now with a terrible congestion.

Started with a little sore throat

Which turned into a burning throat

then coughing, lots of sweating

and now congestion and more coughing.

Taking vitamin c, drinking fluids like tea, lemon, honey

cough all night long

Today it is a tiny bit better.

Quick post and I'll be back when better. I leave you with my Haiku.

Thinking of the peoples in Colorado who've been affected by the floods.

Oh cough, go away.

Your keeping me up all night.

I'm miserable.

29 FACES-2013 #12

Blogger doesn't seem to be working correctly, the cut and paste part or the copy and paste. I tried pasting Ari Seth Cohen's book, Advanced Style in hard cover here on my post and it would not work. You can click on the link though to check it out. In any event, it can be purchased at different stores. I bought mine from Amazon last year when it came out. It's awesome. Some of you have been to his blog because I see his blog on your sidebar. His interest in his work of photographing senior women and their beauty just caught my attention. So many wonderful beautiful ladies that he photographs and they are in his book.

Before posting this, I emailed him and asked for his okay in posting the pictures of the book,  and of the one I colored/painted and he said of course it was okay,  and so here it is to post.

Here is Ari's color book which is totally awesome,  and Han Schraer's illustrations. Han does wonderful illustrations.

29 Faces, September 2013-#11

I'm running slow this year due to home duties, etc., but will catch up before it's over.
Stop by Martha's and join the fun.

Watercolors, that's pretty much it. A new art journal book, heavy duty recycled paper. I love it. Quick drawing/painting to try to keep up. Just a face with eyes of green/brownish.

PAINT PARTY FRIDAY-FRUIT CRATE BOX

HAPPY PAINT PARTY FRIDAY to all.

Thanks to Eva and Kristin for hosting the weekly event. Stop by and visit the best blog hopping event to share your artistic skills.

So it's been hot, sweaty, and just nauseatingly heat stroke days, and am so sick of it. My studio gets really hot in there. I don't want to turn on the air conditioner in there because of costs. When in the house my AC is on and turning on the one in the studio will just add to the cost.

I'm so ready for the cool weather even though it will make my bones feel like some one is hammering a red hot stake to the bone, I don't care. Cold is my thing. The arthritis in my knees and hips is awful, but I can deal with it, heat just drives me crazy.

So I found this box amongst things that are hidden behind the garage, just a few things and decided to use it for Dia de Los Muertos in November. It will hopefully be a shrine, a simple shrine this year and it will be outside.

I've washed it down and it's drying here.

and here....

...and here. I love the printed matter,  and I'm reminded that someone used this box to pick pears. A very hard worker who didn't mind working the fields to make some money. I salute these hard workers who aren't afraid to get out there in that heat and pick the fruit for us. I don't buy pears as we have a couple of pear trees. None the less, hooray for hard workers.

So it dried and it went in the studio and some molding paste and various colors were added. This is the first coat of many to come.

Didn't want to mess up the lettering so had to paint around it.

This is as far as I've gotten with it. There will be various pictures, saints, skelly faces, lots of different beads, marigolds, votive candles and the usual that will be added to the crate. This is the first time I've used a wooden crate box for a shrine and it will be great to see how it comes out.

The celebrating of a life passing with a colorful ritual,  opens the senses and heals.

THANKS FOR STOPPING BY MY PPF CONTRIBUTION. I WILL BE BY YOUR BLOGS AS WELL. HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY.

Soup for thought-veggies

My home duties of cooking, cleaning, and other seem to be calling me.  They are my priority and I enjoy them. There are floors to be mopped, clothes to be washed, dusting, and other "enjoyable" things. Tee hee. I will do a post tomorrow for PPF and my Haiku, but for now that will be it. There will be catching up with 29 Faces because there's no way it can be squeezed in. When time allows I will post on that, but for now my home calls for my attention.

I've got dinner on the stove already, veggie soup. It's cooking very slowly.

Different greens

Cabbage, carrots, celery, onions,  and some white rice added. I also added some chicken broth.

So it cooks slowly and this gives me time for my mopping and other home duties.

Aren't these squash just beautiful? I bought them at Safeway's because we've never grown these. The seeds will be taken out before being cooked, dried and saved for next year's planting. Awesome!

Time to go and rejuvenate myself with life and everything in it. Take care, be back later tonight to post my PPF.
Have a wonderful day.

29 Faces-10 and my Haiku

Roses in the garden, hit with the spotlight. Linking up with
Stop by her blog and join in the fun.

This is just a picture. As said before time is just speeding by and there hasn't been much time to paint and since it's okay to do photos too, here is mine.
Of course I had to do my Haiku as well, under the picture.

Thanks for stopping by. Off to spend time in the garden doing nothing but feeling for about 5 or 10 and then of course exercise and then pitter patter here and there.:) Have a wonderful day.

29 Faces-8 & 9

Linking up with Martha for her 29 FACES-September, 2013. Stop by and have fun. You'll see better work than what I have going here right now.:)

Just doodling because there isn't enough time in the day to really paint right now. I chose to doodle with pens. Trying out some Liquitex Markers I just received and some other markers that need to be used before they dry out.
I don't even have names so I'll just call them doodle AND  doodle doo.

DOODLE

DOODLE DOO

I think that time is just passing me by and can't seem to catch up with it. No time for anything. Starting tomorrow I will pick a spot out in back to just sit and be still for 5 minutes. I'll listen to the sounds. look at the plants and just not think of anything but the beauty of life itself.

Quiet is needed at present.

Have a wonderful day and week ahead.
Don't forget to stop by Martha's.

29 Faces-2013-7

Linking to Martha over at 29 Faces-2013

An old photo that was in a packing box full of pictures that my mom gave to me. Lots of old time pictures in that plastic bin and I'm not sure what is going to become of all of them after I'm gone. I didn't do anything to it, just took a picture and uploaded.

The young lady on the left with 3 strings of pearls (costume jewelry) was my Aunt Sarah and the other person I am not sure who she was. This is a very old picture so I am not sure when it was taken. I never knew her at this age, I wasn't around.:)

Aunt Sarah lived in a small house with a huge lot, I do remember that. Lots of veggies were planted and she had a lot of flowers. She always wore an apron. Aunt Sarah I never knew very well personally. She had a lot of children, maybe 8 or so and she passed away in her early 70's of cancer.
My mom's sister.

PAINT PARTY FRIDAY-Dear Mary Of The World-1

Linking up with Eva and Kristin over at Paint Party Friday for the weekly fun event. Thanks so much for hosting. Stop by and join in the fun. Thanks for stopping by.

Last week I showed this particular "board" being worked on. As I said, they are usually used for my Little Ladies Of The Garden or Little Ladies Of The Kitchen and this time around perhaps it will be for Mary. This series (if there is to be a series) will be called, "Dear Mary Of The World"

Cut out board, sanded and covered with a coat of paint

Used acrylics, Pitt pens, and accessories were added.
Ready for completion and do wish it had come out better.

Sprayed with a semi-gloss fixative and
I've added a hook in back for hanging.

Joining up with Martha for her 29 Faces-2013 September. Stop by and join in the fun.

Just a quick photo of my family pet member Chocolatte' (yes 2 T's) who is getting ready to eat and doesn't like the idea of a bib. We found this precious critter after Chorizo passed on in 2007. She was only one month old. She will be 6 years on November 18th and will probably get a doggie cake.:) She is a darling and we love her, but of course we will always miss Chorizo the regal family pet member. But....Chocolatte is QUEEN EVERY DAY.

 Edited in cartoon style.

Have a great rest of the week. Thanks to those who stop by.

29 Faces, 2013-4

Linking up with Martha of 29 Faces-2013. Join in the fun.
Thanks for stopping by.

Quick drawing. Where he came from, I don't know. I think this was done when my mind was in high gear about other things besides painting. :)

I fear that my participation will be slacking soon as life just keeps calling me to do things, but I will try to join in the fun from time to time.

My Haiku-Apron Wash Day

My husband has been working on the dining room and these aprons hang in the kitchen side. He was spraying texture on the walls and well my aprons got hit. He apologized and hung up some plastic separating the kitchen from the dining area.

Well they needed wash anyway. I think some of them may need another wash as I see white spots still on the aprons.

Here they are, all from different peoples and yes I do use them. It feels great when my aprons are in use.

So my Haiku for this day is about my aprons.

Aprons provide glee.
They provide cleanliness too.
As well as comfort.

My Mom gave me this apron years ago.

This apron came from a blogger a few years back. I actually forgot where it was ordered from. I believe it came from Texas. Sorry.

This apron was ordered from Stephanie a while back. I don't have the link right now, sorry about that.

Again from Texas, I especially like this one with Our Lady.

This apron is from YaYa, a friend on Blogger who actually hasn't been on for quite some time. She's missed.

Also from my Grandma.

This is my favorite of them all. Two little ladies done by my Grammy. She was always sewing.
HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY.
