HKU Information Day for Undergraduate Admissions
The Information Day of HKU this year is entitled "Be One of Us - HKU Family". Members of the public, particularly teachers and students of secondary schools and parents, are welcomed to come to HKU to learn more about the various programmes it offered, to visit the facilities and hostels of the university, and to have a taste of various spectrum of university life. There will also be a great variety of interesting talks, exhibitions and demonstrations of various academic disciplines throughout the day on campus.

"Hung Leung Hau Ling Distinguished Fellow in Humanities" Inaugural Ceremony-cum-Lecture: Lung Ying-tai on Her Literary Path
HKU celebrates the inauguration of the "Hung Leung Hau Ling Distinguished Fellow in Humanities" scheme, which was made possible through the generous support of the Hung Hing Ying and Leung Hau Ling Charitable Foundation. The first incumbent of the scheme, hosted by Robert Black College, is Professor Lung Ying-tai, a renowned essayist, cultural critic and one of the most influential writers in the global Chinese language world. At the scheme's Inaugural Ceremony cum Lecture, she will speak on "Lung Ying-tai on Her Literary Path".

Managing World Cities: Hong Kong-London-New York
The Inaugural Conference on "Managing World Cities: Hong Kong-London-New York", co-organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences of HKU, Central Policy Unit, King's College, London and New York University will be held in HK on October 23 - 25. Local and overseas renowned speakers from these three world's great cities will share their views on making and managing a world city. Speakers on the first day include HKU's Council Chairman Dr Victor Fung and various local and overseas practitioners and scholars.

The Global Credit Crisis: Causes and Consequences
Dr Douglas Arner will discuss the current global credit crisis, focusing on its causes, major events to date and its possible implications for financial law, regulation and global finance generally. Dr Arner is the Director of HKU's Asian Institute of International Financial Law. A specialist in international financial law and financial market regulatory systems worldwide, Douglas is author, co-author or editor of 9 books and over 50 articles, chapters and reports on related subjects.
