Default for $wgMaxShellMemory too low

A thread, Thread:Project:Current issues/Default for $wgMaxShellMemory too low, was moved from here to Project:Support desk. This move was made by Nemo bis (talk | contribs) on 4 February 2014 at 21:40.

SUL not working?

Until very recently, when I came here from enwiki, I was automatically logged in here. Today, this doesn't seem to work. Is this restricted to me or a general problem?

Fram (talk)07:57, 10 January 2014

CentralAuth issues are often hard to describe, since the implementation of SUL2. If you can reproduce the issue reliably, please report a bug with clear steps to reproduce.

Nemo15:40, 10 January 2014

Um, I don't think there is anything more to add wrt "clear steps": start a browser session, open enwiki with your useraccount there, then go from some enwiki page to a mediawiki page (I started from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:VisualEditor and used the "(or at Mediawiki)" link in the infobox on the right), and notice that you are not logged in at MediaWiki... At least, that's what happens to me!

And I can't file a bug at Bugzilla, as I am indefinitely blocked there. Which saves me a lot of trouble :-)

Fram (talk)16:25, 10 January 2014

Could you check to see if you have any browser plugins that mangle cookies? I have a cookie self-destruct add-on, for example, that could cause problems like this. Otherwise, check the village pump to see if anyone else has reported any issues.

MarkAHershberger(talk)16:32, 10 January 2014

Standard FF26 without any add-ons. I don't have this problem when going from enwiki to e.g. frwiki or to Commons, only (as far as I have seen) when going to Mediawiki.

Fram (talk)16:38, 10 January 2014

I've had occasional problems with logging in at en.wp and then discovering that I was logged out at Meta or Mediawiki, also in Firefox. However, the reverse doesn't seem to happen, and it's not common. Does this happen to you every time you come to Mediawiki?

Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk)18:40, 10 January 2014

Today, every time I tried it, even after restarting my computer. Before today, not that I recall.

Fram (talk)18:51, 10 January 2014

For the first time in a week, I was automatically logged in when coming here from enwiki. No idea if this fixed, or if it is simply unpredictable.

[CLOSED] Extension matrix is not being updated

No update since the fourth of October,

Levreauj (talk)05:49, 12 November 2013

Have you told the maintainer?

Nemo08:07, 12 November 2013

Well I'm trying too ;-)

Levreauj (talk)00:36, 13 November 2013

Someone else already did.[1]

Nemo08:04, 13 November 2013

Marking it closed as nothing changed since November 13.

[DONE] Request of translation admin rights

Hi, I would like to become translation admin; I regularly translate pages here (and on Meta also) and I frequently view desynchronized pages between the source language and the translations because of corrections of typos (and it generally don’t worth asking specifically an update), so it’s mainly for this type of tasks I’m requesting. I already played with translation admin rights on a test wiki.

Thanks,

~ Seb3518:22, 16 November 2013

Please file your request at Project:Requests.

Jasper Deng (talk)22:10, 16 November 2013

Done. Thanks.

~ Seb35 [^_^]00:08, 18 November 2013

Granted.

[DONE] Changes pending review

Someone please review these edits - [1] & [2], they are quite important, the download links have been changed. Thanks in advance.

CodeMonk (talk)00:10, 4 January 2014

Done.

All embedded SVG images are broken

The wiki is trying to embed SVG images as application/xml instead of image/svg+xml and thus, they're all broken.

Filter translations in recent changes doesn't work

This makes the recent changes almost unusable due to the massive about of translation edits.

101.160.15.10709:05, 28 December 2013

Works for me, also logged out, when accessing just Special:RecentChanges (defaults). Can you clarify what URL you're opening and what you're seeing that you don't expect, exactly? Help:Extension:Translate/Statistics_and_reporting#Recent_changes.2C_feeds_and_logging may also help.

Nemo10:00, 28 December 2013

Default recent changes url. Still translation edits everywhere. http://i.imgur.com/00j9zax.png

101.160.15.10704:40, 29 December 2013

I see. Those are main namespace edits, so they won't be hidden. You obviously need enhanced RC :), append ?enhanced=1 to the URL.

Nemo09:04, 29 December 2013

I don't see why the namespace should matter. And besides, I see translation edits in other namespaces as well, like help. If it's not meant to hide translation edits, then that feature is quite poorly named.

101.160.15.10712:07, 29 December 2013

The hidden translations are in the Translations: namespace and there are effectively hidden in your view (“Filter out translations”). When someone translates something, her/his edits are duplicated in the Translations: namespace and in the actual translated page (in the main namespace or elsewhere).

If you want not to see the multiple lines, you should use the tip given by Nemo. Alternatively you can register for an account (top right of the screen) where you can set this behaviour as your default preference.

Comment now or never (well, sort of).

Nemo08:45, 20 December 2013

I only see "don'ts" for the reporters, and nothing for the devs. A discussion about whether a fix is wanted or needed, or whether something is truly resolved-fixed or whether a wont-fix is the correct solution, needs a place as well.

The discussion about voting (and whether commenting isn't better to show the importance of some bugs) also seems not to have been reflected in the near-final text.

I'm not a Bugzilla member anymore, but I don't think this etiquette page is the way to go.

Fram (talk)09:49, 20 December 2013

I think at least some things can be tweaked easily enough in the draft, see [1]. I think you should just edit it. :)

Nemo14:46, 20 December 2013

Thanks, but I have interest in being blocked again because I tread on some toes and get on the territory of the Powers at MediaWiki. One block here and empty threat with a topic ban is enough for me.

Greetings from Russian, Pindostana?

Hi, for no apparent reason the www.mediawiki.org homepage is now a blank white screen with the words:

Привет от Русских, пиндостан.

Greetings from Russian, Pindostana.

I am baffled, especially since the rest of the site works fine.

Hadashi (talk)13:35, 21 January 2014

Works for me now...

Qgil (talk)20:19, 21 January 2014

And now it has changed back and works for me as well. Hu.....

json format of search query api for text search

A thread, Thread:Project:Current issues/json format of search query api for text search, was moved from here to Project:Support desk. This move was made by Nemo bis (talk | contribs) on 21 January 2014 at 21:27.

Flow is down?

When I want to post to a Flow page, or see the history of a Flow enabled page, I get a nice pink box saying "An error occurred. The error message received was: An unexpected error occurred." or the generi WMF error page.

I don't get these when using mediaWiki otherwise, so it seems to be purely Flow-related.

Fram (talk)10:54, 7 January 2014

Flow is currently in read-only mode due to a bug that was discovered last night. It should be fixed later today.

Jorm (WMF) (talk)16:51, 7 January 2014

Thanks. Any reason why "read-only mode" would disbale the possibility to look at the history? Seems to be unwanted behaviour. Not really urgent, as read-only should be the exception of course, but still...

Quicker edit approval

Hi ,

Why are edits not approved quickly? I had 4 main edits and only 1 had been approved(the other 2 stay in the queue - the 4th one is very minor). (Sorry if I made a mistake)

Or is it that only important edits get approved?

Leaderboard (talk)13:22, 19 December 2013

No, but some pages are not as watched as they should. The edits of yours that I see were reviewed; if a review takes more than a couple weeks, ask on talk page to review edits or remove flaggedrevision from the page.

Hi could someone please update Extension:ConfirmAccount because it last was updated with some new features when 1.20 was released and in 1.21 the longin and create account button was seperated and in ConfirmAccount it isent it is still together please update it with a new look. I have also ask on the mainteners talk page and they still have not replayed.

90.215.111.10314:51, 7 December 2013

Well, this reflects the actual situation of that extension: nobody seems to be maintaining it at the moment.
