GBIF-Deutschland präsentiert das neue Virtuelle Herbarium Deutschland. Das Virtuelle Herbarium ist eine gemeinschaftliche Präsentation bedeutender Herbarien Deutschlands und basiert auf modernster GBIF-Technologie. Virtuell bedeutet, dass Menschen aus Forschung, Bildung, Umweltwissenschaften sowie interessierte Bürgerinnen und Bürger digitalisierte Pflanzenbelege bequem am Rechner untersuchen können ohne die weiten Wege in die einzelnen Herbarien auf sich nehmen zu müssen.

Global Biodiversity Information Facility - Germany
The mission of the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) is to facilitate free and open access to biodiversity data worldwide via the Internet.
Objectives of GBIF-D
Germany is one of the founding nations of GBIF (see Country Page at GBIF.ORG). The main objective of GBIF Germany (GBIF-D) is the focussed collection and mobilisation of suitable data within Germany's research community and natural history collections as well as the available observation data to fulfill the aims of GBIF's MoU. The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research funded the establishment of the German GBIF Node system during 2002-2006 and 2010-2014.
Starting with 2013 the organisations with GBIF-D nodes and data centers are involved in the GFBio and NFDI4Biodiversity initiatives. They are adapting their data repositories, data products and data pipelines for NFDI.requirements.
