  • Ministry for Foreign Affairs expands advice against travel

    On 1 August, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs expanded its advice regarding travel to Israel and Palestine to advise against all travel to both of these countries. Advice against all travel to Lebanon has been in place since October 2023, and the Ministry also urges all Swedes in Lebanon to leave the country. The security situation in the Middle East is serious and may deteriorate rapidly. The Ministry is monitoring developments very closely.

  • Sweden and the United States enter into new nuclear power agreement

    Sweden and the United States have entered into a new agreement to further the development of new nuclear power. Minister for Energy, Business and Industry Ebba Busch has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on bilateral nuclear cooperation in Washington, D.C. with US Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm. This agreement aims to strengthen cooperation between Sweden and the United States to support the development of new nuclear power. 

  • LGBTIQ people’s rights and opportunities are on the agenda

    Everyone has the right to be themselves without risking violence, harassment or discrimination. LGBTIQ people’s equal rights and opportunities are a priority issue for the Government, and development of a new action plan is under way. The Government is also implementing a large number of other initiatives in this area.

New report on the situation of Ukrainians in Sweden

In the first half of 2023, the Government tasked the United Nations International Organization for Migration (IOM) with conducting a survey aimed at people who have fled to Sweden from Ukraine. The Government has now received a follow-up report, which shows positive developments in almost all areas.

Sweden’s national security – for a safer and more secure Sweden in uncertain times

The Government has adopted Sweden’s new national security strategy, which includes five guiding principles for management of Sweden’s security. It constitutes the framework for the Government’s work on national security until 2030.
