St. Ann's Festival to return for 102nd year in Hoboken

Hoboken’s preeminent Italian festival is set to return later this month.

St. Ann’s Festival will start its 102nd year in the Mile Square City on Friday, July 20 and runs until Thursday, July 26.

The festival will be open every day from 6 to 11 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, the feast opens at 1 p.m.

During the festival, attendees will be treated to homemade Italian specialties, including the famous zeppole, in addition to various games for all ages.

Some other mouth-watering favorites include sausage and peppers, coal oven pizza, rice balls and gyros.

The courtyard cafe will also feature a full service bar with nightly drink specials.

There are also several musical acts planned during the festival to keep visitors entertained. Groups such as The Bronx Wanderers, The Nerds, Cristina Fontanelli, and Ray Rodriguez Swing Sabroso will perform.

The Bass Transit playing the music of Chicago, and Steve Lippia signing “Simply Sinatra” accompanied by the Jordan Thomas Orchestra will also be featured over the course of the festival.

Nightly live entertainment starts at 8:15 p.m. on the stage directly across from St. Ann’s Church on Seventh and Jefferson streets.

The festival's final day includes the solemn mass that begins at 11 a.m., followed by the procession of the 600-pound statue of St. Ann through Hoboken streets.

Organizers said last year's festival attracted upwards of 30,000 people over the six-day stretch.
