Collection contains correspondence and writings of Trachtenberg while he was director of the Dept. of Labor Research at the Rand School. Correspondence consists primarily of letters received by Trachtenberg and documents the preparation and reception of the American Labor Yearbook, 1916, and an effort in 1918 to have the New York legislature abolish night work in bakeries. Included are letters from representatives of labor unions, socialist groups and journals, university professors, and government officials. Also, typescripts of articles, reports and other writings mainly on socialist and labor topics
