🗣 Speaker introduction - Scholarly Publishing Tech Con 2024: Publisher Panel Today we are delighted to introduce the participants of the panel “Technology Trends in Scholarly Publishing - A Publisher's Perspective”. The following panelists will share the stage on May 15: Michael Di Natale is the Director, Digital Publishing at American Association for Cancer Research. Previously, Mike served as Publishing Technology Manager at Science/AAAS where he led the Science journals platform migration. He has spent his scholarly communications career working at the intersection of publishing and technology, having been a part of a product management team building tools for better editorial and production workflows and later migrating operations at BioOne to a new digital library platform and invoicing system. An active member publishing community, Mike is an at-large member of the SSP Board of Directors. Cheryl Firestone is Senior Manager, Digital Publishing at American Academy of Pediatrics and specializes in strategic planning and execution for digital publishing endeavors at the Academy. With a focus on online publications, websites, e-books, and emerging formats, she enjoys testing the waters - and the boundaries - of innovation in the field. Her passion for scholarly publishing ensures that projects under her guidance not only meet but exceed industry standards, delivering content that captivates audiences, and enhances user experiences. Her commitment to continuous learning enables her to craft forward-thinking strategies adaptable to the dynamic digital landscape. Cheryl eagerly anticipates the next wave of innovation in scholarly publishing and is enthusiastic about discovering where emerging technologies will lead us next. Mandy May is Director, Content Management at AMPP: Association for Materials Protection and Performance. Having worked in the association world for more than 30 years has provided Mandy with opportunities to see many aspects of this work – from standards to publications to IT to marketing. Having the privilege to work on SAE’s content management effort instilled her passion for this work by seeing what it brings to an organization. Having the chance to bring this methodology to AMPP at a time when NACE and SSPC merged has been her once-in-a-lifetime career opportunity. Panel moderator Brian Trombley is CEO at Ariza Content Solutions LLC and has more than 40 years’ experience helping clients implement content-oriented processes and technologies for all aspects of publishing across a wide range of industry verticals.
