Hello June baby!

Hi all, I hope you are well & enjoying life's interesting titbits! I have a cheeky finish for you this month.

So listen up stitching friends, the reason I think this is cheeky is because I made this for a shop sample for my favourite quilt shop, which is also where I work part time, The Country Yard. It is my cushion, just that have loaned it to the shop as we now have these lovely-want-to-buy-patterns by Bird Brain Designs. I used "Hugs n' Kisses" Cottage Garden Thread, just in case you were wondering.

Just perfect for a winter loving gal like me!

Winter bloggy hugsxxxx

Welcome Santa!

May is here! Well nearly over actually! I have been plodding away on this wool felt penny rug for the last couple of months. While working on my customers quilts today, I had to stop for a few coffee stops, so I finished the last few pennies.

Except Santa's mustache & beard all the wool felt is up- cycled from woolen jackets etc. I got the pattern from #20 Homespun magazine.
Now that he is made, sadly he is put away until it's time to decorate at Christmas, here he is in my big red sea chest. Sleep time Santa!

Once again, thanks Narelle for hosting this cool idea.

The Easter Bunny has hopped away................................

Hello poppets!
Here's hoping your Easter was a happy one. I managed to stitch up another primitive Santa goodie bag to put in my gift box.

Using a Cottage Garden thread 'Kangaroo Paw" for the stitching over a primitive muslin. I used one of Lynette Anderson's Christmas fabrics for the backing & lining of this goodie bag. Then some rusty bells for embellishment.
See you all next month..............................

A Merry Christmas Garden

This is what I have been secretly working away, but was unable to share with you all until the quilt shop that I work at part time ( as well as my quilting business) had it's New Years Launch. See my blog post here about the special day.
Now that special day has passed & I have finished the quilt top, I can share!
This lovely quilt is a Gail Pan Design Called " A Merry Christmas Garden". The Country Yard is offering this superb quilt as a BOM over six months.
I used the 'Apliquick' tools for all the applique. I did a wee tutorial on my blog about these fabulous tools after I was gifted a set, see here for that blog post. I think this method of applique is the most stress free method!

Narelle I know you are doing this BOM through your local patchwork shop, sorry I had to keep the secret from you.
Now for the quilting!
I look forward to seeing what everyone else has been up to this month.

pin parking...........................

I can now show this pincushion I made for a friend for christmas, but we have only this month exchanged presents. At one of my visits to my friend Julie, (who by the way has a delightful little shop that never disappoints!) I saw a pincushion similar to this, made by one of her friends. Made from one wooden coffee mug stand, one round cake tin, felted wool & embellishments. I had much fun painting, sanding & creating!

To see something else made from wool felt, please visit my blog, you will also see that rabbit's prefer Chocolate!!

Another great month, time to see what everyone else has revealed.

Happy creating!

Hohoho & a Merry New Year!

Hi there wee elves.....................

So cool to see all the lovely makings. Isn't it fabulous to have this blog as a little prod to keep us all moving towards making & gathering Christmas goodness!
The following photo is what I have made for our first month, it is actually the second one I have made as I loved the first one so much I decided to make another to gift a friend. I have more details about the pattern etc on my blog, quiltmekiwi.

Checkout the embellishments I have used for the snowman's tummies............domes, a rusty safety pin & vintage button, plus some Parisian Essence for the primitive look that I love so much.
I also used burnt orange wool felt for their noses.

I look forward to my monthly visits.......................................
