Remains found in search for woman missing in Kakadu National Park

Around 38,000 people are reported missing in Australia each year.

Remains have been found in the search for a woman who disappeared after going camping in an isolated national park.

They're believed to be Jessica Louise Stephens, 35, Northern Territory Police said.

Stephens is believed to have travelled to Kakadu National Park in the Territory on October 19.

She is thought to have camped near Nourlangie Rock and her family hadn't heard from her since.

Police and park rangers scoured the area and found Stephens' vehicle but no trace of her.

"The remains were located earlier today within the search area," NT Police said.

"Police are in communication with the woman's family and a report will be prepared for the coroner."
