About us

A Local Jobs and Skills Taskforce has been established in the region to identify key employment priorities and strengthen linkages between stakeholders. The Taskforce play a central role leveraging existing programs and aligning efforts on the ground to ensure collaboration is maximised, duplication is minimised, and outcomes are achieved. A Local Recovery Fund of $250,000 is available in the North West Country region to support projects that assist job seekers into employment. The Employment Facilitator can provide more information on the Local Jobs Program, and also help organisations and employers better understand and connect with Government programs, services and funding for employment. • 🚀 Exciting News to Share! 🌟 Upper Spencer Gulf Workforce Summit Success! 🤝 We're thrilled to share the amazing progress made during last week’s inaugural Upper Spencer Gulf Workforce Summit showcasing amazing collaboration across organisations: the working party (Uni Hib Spencer Gulf, Local Jobs North West Country & Mid North, RDA EP & YMN, Spencer Gulf Cities, TACTIC & The Resources and Engineering Skills Alliance) in collaboration with facilitator Geoff Deans from Modifying Factors. The energy and enthusiasm in the air were palpable as 100+ attendees, including industry leaders, government officials (local, state, and federal), and Mayors from all 3 regions, gathered to work together to maximise local people into available jobs in the project pipeline. Over the next 4 years, there are at least 24,000 expected job opportunities across 71 projects, with major initiatives spanning from Hydrogen, Renewables, and Mining. Summit attendees agreed to shared objectives identified through the workshop and the primary focus was crystal clear: to work collaboratively towards success. We heard this looks like having a unified point of contact to support shared outcomes, a common dataset, agreed-upon objectives, and a commitment to real time information-sharing. Among the crucial issues raised, is the need for a strong focus on the maintenance of existing workforces, foster skills and employment options for locals, and ensure adequate housing and childcare take centre stage. There was also a keen interest for a legacy of benefit for communities as we work together diligently addressing risk of impacts. The organising team are thrilled with the overwhelmingly positive response and the shared commitment to work together. Industry partners presenting at the TACTIC conference appreciated the scene setting delivered at the Workforce Summit, and TACTIC organisers have hinted it could become a key fixture in future conferences. Watch this space! The shared priorities, presentation slides, and contact lists are now in circulation, and the Working Party is gearing up to communicate the region's needs to key government representatives through Spencer Gulf Cities. Building on this momentum, discussions at the TACTIC conference emphasised the need to focus primarily on construction workforce skills, as this will be the driving force for monumental progress, with a huge number of roles on offer as projects gain momentum in our regions. Stay tuned for more updates on the Upper Spencer Gulf Workforce Summit actions and deliverables! 🌏👷🛠 #CollaborationInAction #WorkforceSummit #FutureForward #LocalJobs Regional Development Australia - Eyre Peninsula Regional Development Australia Yorke and Mid North RESA - Resources and Engineering Skills Alliance Workforce Australia - Local Jobs - Mid North SA Modifying Factors Uni Hub Spencer Gulf
