Adam Hamm
Adam Hamm (b. Jamestown, North Dakota) is a former North Dakota Commissioner of Insurance. Hamm, a Republican, was first appointed to the office in October 2007 by Gov. John Hoeven, and was elected to a full, four-year term in November 2008 and won re-election in 2012.[1][2] Though eligible, Hamm declined to seek re-election in 2016.[3]
Biography
Following his graduation from law school, Hamm became an assistant state's attorney in Cass County, focusing his work on personal crimes. At the beginning of 2002, he moved into private practice and remained in this position until he was named North Dakota's Insurance Commissioner in 2007.[1]

Hamm was first appointed as North Dakota Commissioner of Insurance in 2007. He was subsequently elected to two full terms, first in 2008 and again in 2012. Hamm declined to seek re-election in 2016.[1][4]

Though eligible, Hamm declined to seek re-election as North Dakota Commissioner of Insurance in 2016. "When I completely thought it through I figured it was time for someone else to serve in this capacity. I’ll have been in this position for nine years. That’s a lot of time tealing [sic] with Obamacare on a daily basis, dealing with fallout from Dodd-Frank which had an impact on insurance. It’s time to let someone else serve," he told Say Anything Blog in December 2015.[4]
2012
Hamm won re-election in 2012. He was unopposed in the primary election and defeated Democrat Tom Potter in the November 6th general election.[2][5]
