Albert Vickers Bryan, Sr. (1899-1984) was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.[1]

Judicial nominations and appointments

Fourth Circuit

Bryan was nominated to the Fourth Circuit by President John F. Kennedy on August 2, 1961, to a new seat created by 75 Stat. 80; he was confirmed by the Senate on August 15, 1961, and received commission that same day. He assumed senior status on May 3, 1972, and served in that capacity until his death on March 13, 1984.[1]

Eastern District of Virginia

Bryan was nominated to the Eastern District of Virginia by President Harry Truman on May 15, 1947, to a seat vacated by Robert Nelson Pollard; he was confirmed by the Senate on June 3, 1947, and received his commission on June 5th. He served as chief judge from 1959 until his advancement to the Fourth Circuit on August 23, 1961.[1] Bryan was succeeded in this position by John Butzner.
