Biography
Alex Sabol was born in Lafayette, Indiana. He earned an undergraduate degree from Indiana University and the University of Oxford in 2013. Sabol's career experience includes working as an entrepreneur, in investment banking, and with an education company. He has been certified as an executive coach and as a leadership development professional. Sabol has been affiliated with the nonprofit organizations Greater Lafayette Commerce and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.[1]

I am a West Lafayette native who graduated as valedictorian from Harrison High School and graduated with honors and distinction with a degree in business from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business. I am a leadership team consultant where I help organizational leaders grow their companies effectively and compassionately. I am a difference maker who has worked with organizations across the country such as Big Brothers Big Sisters to impact the lives of young people. I am a husband to my incredible wife, Arielle, and a father to my somewhat crazy dog, Jay. I am committed to being a public servant and impacting the community and state that has given me so much.
- I am committed to a New Vision for Indiana where there is a Big Future for Everyone. That would look like Indiana having the top educational system for K-12 and beyond.
- That would also look like Indiana being the leader in providing affordable, accessible healthcare.
- That would also look like Indiana being nationally known as having the best communities for living and working.
I am extremely passionate about education. I have worked for and invested my time and money in education organizations for the past six years. I received a great public education, and I want that opportunity to continue for future generations. I think that means we need to rethink the current education system to create, from nothing, a system that works for everyone.
One of the people I most look up to in my life is my grandfather, Don Stein. He passed away two years ago, but his influence lives long past him. My grandfather was a businessman who had, at one time, twelve different businesses that he ran. I think what was special about my grandfather was that he not only was smart and fair, but he was also extremely giving and caring. He cared deeply for his community, now my community, and has left a lasting impact here through his generosity. He and my grandmother donated to bring penguins to Lafayette's Columbian Park Zoo, and I now work out of the coworking space that he made possible through a donation to the Tippecanoe County Public Library - two of many impacts he left on the community. I hope to be half the man he was in his generosity, care for the community, and lasting impact.
I believe the core responsibilities of someone elected to the office of Indiana State Representative are the following:
-Represent ALL the people in your District whether they have a say at the ballot box or not
-Enact effective and compassionate legislation that makes a difference and works for everyone
-Provide access for people to better their life circumstances for themselves and their families - make a
Big Future available for Everyone
-Serve all the people of the state of Indiana, not just the special interests or the people who donated to
your campaign
-Be a representative of what the future of our state and government should look like
I plan to uphold these core responsibilities when elected State Representative.
If I look at 40 years from now, when I will be the age of the current office holder for this district, I would like to see that our state has fulfilled on a New Vision for Indiana with Big Futures for Everyone. I would like to see that our state looks at affordable, accessible health care the same as we look at affordable, accessible food - a human right. I would like to see that Indiana's education system is a model for states and countries around the world. We are the best at educating people from youth to adulthood. We even have implemented incredible training programs that move at the pace of changes in our technology and economy. I would also like to see that Indiana is known as having the best communities for living and working. We have clean communities free of pollution and using the most modern green energy and technologies. We have inclusive communities where everyone is welcome - no matter skin color, religion, sexual preference or country of origin. That would really be a legacy to be proud of.
My favorite book is "To Killing a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee. Instead of fumbling with words to try to explain why I love this book, I'll let it speak for itself.

Indiana's greatest challenge over the next decade is the transition of work to the gig economy where people can choose where they live and the companies follow versus the old model of the company comes and the people follow. In this new model, we need to ask ourselves, "why would people choose to live here in Indiana?" I believe that the answer to this is that Indiana will need to be a leader in what's important to people - providing affordable, accessible health care, having the top educational system for K-12 and beyond, and being nationally known for having the best communities for living & working. I plan to begin working on some of these initiatives even before being elected. We have no time to waste.
I think this is something that has disappeared in our government locally and nationally - creating connections regardless of party. We have forgotten that we are all human beings, and we are all here to make a difference. The first thing I would do as state representative, before I even step foot in the statehouse, would be to set up meetings with all 99 of my colleagues in the Indiana House of Representatives - Democrats and Republicans. I will listen for what is important to each and every one of those individuals and their communities. I will then find common ground and see where we can work together to make the biggest difference for our state and everyone who lives here. Neither party can move our state forward alone.
Due to the importance of education in my platform and my new vision for an education system that works, I will certainly want to be involved in the Education committee. I will also want to be a part of the Public Health committee to enact legislation that will impact our ability to be a leader in providing affordable, accessible health care. Other potential committees of interest are Ways & Means; Environmental Affairs; Commerce, Small Business & Economic Development; and Agriculture & Rural Development.
