Biography
Alison Beale earned a bachelor's degree from Belmont University in 2014. Her career experience includes working in the music industry and as a middle school math teacher. As of 2024, Beale was a stay at home mom.[1]

I’m Alison! I’m 32 and I live in Hendersonville, TN with my husband Wes and my two young daughters, Bennett (4) and Bowie (1). I’m a former middle school teacher; I taught 7th grade math for 4 years in Nashville, and because of one of my students, I’ve been a gun violence prevention advocate for the last several years. I taught Aldane Brooks just a few short months after his older brother, Akilah Dasilva, was murdered in the Waffle House mass shooting. Their mother, Shaundelle Brooks, started the Akilah Dasilva Foundation and when I stepped away from teaching, I began working with the foundation to help prevent other families from experiencing the preventable, heart-shattering loss they had.
Before teaching, I attended Belmont University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BBA. I worked in the music industry after graduating and while doing that, I volunteered with CASA as a court appointed advocate for children in foster care due to abuse or neglect. My volunteer work there prompted me to switch careers and become a teacher.
I never set out to be a politician…but I bought my daughter Bennett, who is in preschool, a bulletproof backpack following the Covenant shooting because of how helpless I felt, and it was then that I knew I had to step up and run - especially in the midst of the ongoing movement in Tennessee. As a mom, I see running for office as doing what I need to do to protect not just my kids, but everyone’s kids.
- It's not radical to care about people. I want to restore humanity, integrity, and compassion to politics. And while that may sound naive to some, the truth is that compassion BELONGS in politics, because our elected officials and legislation determine how we live and the opportunities and resources we have access to. I believe that, ultimately, restoring the humanity we’ve lost through political division will bring the change we need. I’m working toward a future where caring for the well-being of others is no longer considered “radical,” but is the status quo.
- Tennesseans are more united than we're led to believe, and I believe in our ability to find common ground and unite around the safety of our kids. Pragmatic gun safety legislation is widely supported on a bipartisan level, but unfortunately our supermajority isn't representing any of us well - left, right, or center. With balance in our legislature will come objectivity, legislation that reflects the will of the people, and actual protection for our kids.
- Our public schools, teachers, and students need to be prioritized, fully funded, and cared for. Public dollars belong in public schools (vouchers would send public dollars to private schools), our most vulnerable children with IEPs and special needs deserve fully funded schools (they would not be eligible for vouchers and would be left in our underfunded public schools), and one test score should NOT be reason for retention - the third grade retention law is incredibly detrimental to children. Our kids and families deserve representatives who will advocate for their best interests, and as a mom and former teacher I'm ready to do that.

To listen to the will of the people and authentically represent them. This is done by prioritizing their needs with the bills brought forth and by voting on bills in a way that reflects the desires and best interest of your constituents.
I'd like to leave a legacy of service. Serving others is what I'm passionate about to my core, and I hope those in my path know they are loved and cared for. I’m so proud that my girls will one day understand that when things were falling apart in our state, their mom stepped up to do something about it.

Absolutely. Relationships are key in any work environment, ESPECIALLY one where representatives are appointed to act on behalf of all Tennesseans. Listening to and learning from different perspectives is important, and every body of government should have balance.
Not particularly. Running for office is not about working my way up to a higher office or paving a career path for myself. I see that our legislature is glaringly dysfunctional, corrupt, and unconcerned with the will of the people, and that's not fair to Tennesseans. These legislators aren't just representing you and me; they're the representatives for our children as well. It's a scary thought knowing the future of our children is in the hands of people who aren't working in their best interest. I'm a mom running with the most genuine of intentions, and I hope to make our state a safer and more loving place for everyone.
Run for Something, Vote Mama, Change TN, TN High School Dems, Moms Demand Action (Gun Sense Candidate distinction)
It would be good for our state. Those who oppose it are likely afraid that the will of the people wouldn't align with their personal interests.
